essentially those digrams look like what i have done...bigger snorkel, bigger lid = more air. wait for the finished product sometime. Its made to fit the stock clips and is black alminium. unless u really know ur lines u wouldn't know the difference.

Justins design might as well just wack a pod in there...

hehe i rekon you'd be surprised.. it gives it that good pod feel without the gay sucking noise.

hehe...nar I mean from the hot air...but would fix the issue at high power with stock intakes with the extra vent...problem is its sucking hot air only.

So it'll be made up nicely and wont look like some cheap arse back yard job. Sounds like my style.

Any chance of getting some more made up for people that want them at a price obviously...?

Would there be any air flow coming from behind the headlight area? I know on some cars air passes through around the headlights...but on others they are completely sealed

there is air there...mainly form the engine bay and generally air that has passed though the radiator.

If there is enough intrest I might sell them but it wont be cheap its not a $100 do job.

Got a rough price? If they're quality made and do the job I'd be interested

nope. I just told the guys to make it. They will give me a price once done. I will have a template though which can be used to laser cut more, just needs to be bent up and welded I think.

Are you going to insulate it with something?

Won't the aluminium heat up in the engine bay and be heat soaked more than plastic?

its not aluminium!

Will be a thin steel...thermal conducivity of steel if about 3/4 less that aluminium. Couple that with a thermal foam shield (stuff u can get from clark rubber) and I'm sure its good enough for my application.

I will also be replaceing the intake pipe at the same time.

my mistake. its not Al.

just u a pod for now and be done with it.

But after all this discussion I'm thinking about dodgying up a cheap version right now using the feed from the stock IC pipe and a hole in the lid...that would do the trick also - might go see what pipes I can get and give it a go.

thats the problem...there's nothing like this (that I know of at least) for the R33. with it being such a popular model, you'd think companies like SS inductions in Australia would make something for it...not to mention japanese companies...

While purchasing some stuff on Nengun I found these for the EVO;

Now that is EXACTLY what I'd like on my car, doesn't matter if its carbon or plastic... just looks perfect!

That dosent look to hard to make, you could make a mock up one out of steel or alloy, using the same design (having the air intake in the grill) then get it made up in plastic or carbon (expensive), i just had a quick look at my car, it looks like you would have to modify the bonnet a little bit by cutting some of the front of the bonnet frame out (which might be illegal) so that you could fit a decent snorkel in between the bonnet and the radiator support bar, which would then connect up to the air intake mouth in the grill.

Only problem would be water getting into the airbox when its raining :action-smiley-069:

I'm not too concerned with the intake being in the grill, just that it is larger than stock and integrated into the lid.

The one pictured is actually available with a shorter intake that places it in the stock position. Which would be more what 33 owner would be after.

Fellas,

i dont want hijack a thread here but, i moved from NSW recently where John and the boys at UAS in sydney had fitted my R33Gst-t with FMIC and CAI amongst other things.

i got it inspected and RWC'd down here when i swapped over the Rego.

The inspecting officer went over my car with a fine tooth comb, but didnt say boo about my Pod (which is fitted in fully enclosed in a fibreglass box) and FMIC.

but i understand from reading here (and the LAW posted elsewhere on the forum) that you can only have one of these two mods, anybody got some clarification???

Does it HAVE to be stock or can it be fully enclosed?

can do photo if needed.
