took out old stock rb25de ( due to screwed internals ) we took it out in under 5 hours . and it will be much quicker to get back in since we have an understanding about the engine and where everything goes

now getting clutch/flywheel machined and putting a replacement rb25de in tomorrow ( ide put a rb25det in but i cant drive it yet, ill do it in 2 years time )...

me and a friend went in guns blazing not knowing anything about what we were doing or where to start and to tell u the truth its pretty easy and so far the results are great. i dont understand why people would pay for it to get done unless they didnt have the spare time that is lol...

here is a couple of pics i thought ide keep for me and for u people to see...

(btw its backyard performance thats how easy this is )

Im teh dude on the right, the dirty 1 who done most of the work lol

oh and the sun was blazing at like 42 or more that day and i got burnt like hell :P but so far its turning into a tan :D

Why didnt you go got an RB25DET or a NEO RB25DET? That would of been my move...

Good work btw..

Cheers

Possibly due to P Plater restrictions I'm guessing..

Good to see you got stuck into giving it a go for yourself, just make sure everythings hooked back up properly!

What happened to cause the damage to the old engine?

yeah i put a turbo on my car being stupid and i knew the limit for a n/a engine is 7psi without doing work to it but my turbo ran 15psi stock lol and i cbf taking it back of so basically i drove the engine into the ground..

it still went hard i snapped skylines and 200sx. but didnt change ecu or nothin so it was a big waste of time.

but yeah now ive learnt my lesson since i lost my license driving the car aswell... so from now till when i get off my greens (in 2 years) ill save money and work a turbo engine or just pull my other rb25de out and work from bottom up.

rb series engines are pretty easy to pull out, i am a mechanic and when you have right tool eg air tools, i think it took me about 5.5hrs to remove and fit one engine... nice work trust em after pulling about 20 of these engines they get quicker and quicker :pwned:

is it true that when the flywheel is really shiny/dirty (glazed or something) i should get it machined and they clutch should grip well again. i have a a exedy heavy duty sports tuff clutch and its basically 3-4months old and i thrashed it as soon as i got it and i heard u have to let it wear in. the clutch is fine just my mate said the flywheel is glazed so would this make my clutch grip well again like when i firstly got it...

i hope it does cause even though my car in n/a 2.5l i chirpped 3rds and i got alot of power for the next gears.

ide have the new engine in now its just that i heard i should get my flywheel machined

fark man looks like a big job there, me and a mate pulled the engine out of my old audi and pretty much rebuilt the whole front end of the car in his carport so i know what its like...

do did you have a turbo on there or what? the exhaust looks NA to me? im just having trouble working out if u had a turbo there because u said u were too lazy to take it off but theres no turbo there???

lol well when i "had" the turbo on my car it seemed to be running hard and normal still cause of the excess power flowing through the engine then i got caught lost my license so i took the turbo off and realised the first piston was running at 50psi and 2nd and 3rd were fine then the battery died so i thought ide take it out get a new 1 and while im on my P's for the next 2 years ill pull my old screwed engine apart and rebuilt it into a turbo motor since it would work out cheaper cause ide be obviously be putting decent internals in. rather then buying a turbo engine and changing it all... thats the whole story i think i get my license in 1month and 2 weeks now and i know im buying a custom plate i cant tell u guys what it is cause i cant trust u all 100% no offence and im looking to buy some adjustable suspension to lower my car i want it around 15cm from the ground
