After peoples opinions on these setups on a R33. Response and predicted rear wheel killowatts.

Trust Kit T67(TD0625G) with Trust manifold + wastegate + dump

Trust Kit TD06 with Trust manifold + wastegate + dump

Or bolt on existing manifold and made up dump with a

TRUST TD05 SH18G.

Would like to put any of these on with existing injectors (with 044) keeping the option of upgrading the injectors later.

I have on the car everything else required for a bigger turbo upgrade.

Can anyone explain the SH18G/25G jargon. Related to A/R or wheel trim size.

Don't touch any of them if you want a streetable car.

I've seen a Trust TD06 put on a GTS25-t... It made 240rwkw, however, it didn't have any power before 5000rpm.

I had a trust TD07S on my car, and I made 310rwkw @ 14psi, however I've got a 3ltr motor. Even in it's stock trim, it was particularly laggy, so I'd hate to see it on a 2.5 ltr motor.

Why are you so keen on the trust turbo's? Perhaps you might want to look at a GCG turbo or such?

Most people would deem this impossible, so unless you got a power graph... I'd love to see a dyno chart of that. People can talk the talk, especially when they wanna sell you something...

There is a difference between passing on what was read and stating the JMS have done ......

Sydneykid has made many invaluable contributions to this forum, based on many years personal experience with more high performance cars than most people would dream of - all he was doing was passing on an opinion based on that experience.

- this is grepins thread, and I am sure he would like a broad varied range of responses so that he can make an informed desicision, which is what this forum is about.

Ultimately isnt it grepin's decision to say who he would like to take there attitude somewhere else?

Looks like 4000-4250 rpm to me... or is that an uneducated guess... but the end of the graph is chopped, so i can't be sure...

By the way, i am not saying that those results are impossible, i just really wanted to see it... would be interesting to see full boost at 3000rpm...

I am obviously ready for a turbo upgrade.

RE-RED JMS car I had negotiated a price to buy their full turbo (RX6) setup including Greddy Plenum and injectors. Never to hear from me anymore. They Sold the car. Now I am looking again. Am keen on a Jap Turbo and new Trust unit is within my price range.

ADVAN in NSW is now for this month giving 25% discount on all turbo kits. About $7000, normal retail over $10000. This is a little more than I would like to pay however will if need be.

I cant help but believe that a Trust turbo mated to a matched exhaust housing external wastegate would have to perform better than a GCG high flow or Garrett fitted to standard manifold.

Question for Sydneykid what would you do with that budjet. I would like power around 250rwkw. Yes I know the standard manifold can support this however surely a well thought out aftermarket manifold could make it all work smoother.

Maybe I should hold the horses and get a nice internal wastegated turbo like the TD05 (smaller) try it and get exhaust manifold later.

Anyone want a handful of hair................

250rwkw is not impossible for a GCG Hi Flow. I was slightly expecting you to hint towards wanting more than that. But i have to know what modifications you already have before i make a single conclusion.

The GCG HI Flow has 2 stages. 450bhp and 500bhp. You can do the maths, 450bhp will EASILY support your 250rwkw. Don't believe me...

And the bonus is that it bolts straight back up to the existing manifold... no need to pay more for one

You could try James at D1 Garage, he is getting one in for a customer, might be cheaper if he gets 2. His number is 8294 1355 tell him Steve sent you :D I have decided to stick with the 2.5, put the 3037 on myself and see if I can blow up the bottom end :) then go the 3L so its on the back burner for now. Probably get the spoiler on (along with a new rear bar) in about 2 weeks hopefully. Just got to get my manifold finished first.

If James cannot find anything for you (doubt it - he lived in Japan for 4 years and has Heaps of contacts), drop me a line and I will see what I can source for you.

Hi Guys, goody a dyno chart, lets see if I can learn anything from it.....................

Graph peaks at around 308 rwkw at 196 kph which would be 7,250 rpm allowing for 27 kph per thousand RPM. That means at 108 kph (around 4,000 rpm) it has 93 rwkw

So if you changed gear at 7,000 rpm in first the engine would have 300 rwkw and would drop to 4,000 rpm in second where it had 93 rwkw. It would then struggle to accelerate the car until it got to around 5,000 rpm when the power jumps to 180 rwkw. This would indicate not very much boost under 5,000 rpm.

Simple table follows;

At 7,000 rpm it has 300 rwkw

At 6,000 rpm it has 250 rwkw

At 5,000 rpm it has 195 rwkw

At 4,000 rpm it has 93 rwkw

That's an average of 210 rwkw.

This would make, firstly a fairly slow accelerating car through the gears as it has a relatively low average amount of power (210 rwkw) compared to its maximum. Secondly this would make it very difficult to drive as it would be constantly moving from over 300 rwkw to under 200 rwkw with only a 1,500 rpm drop in revs.

I would say that the turbo is too big and the car would be faster with a smaller turbo, say one with a 260 rwkw maximum. Power table like this;

At 7,000 rpm it has 260 rwkw

At 6,000 rpm it has 240 rwkw

At 5,000 rpm it has 200 rwkw

At 4,000 rpm it has 170 rwkw

That's an average of 220 rwkw.

Higher average therefore faster accelerating and it would only drop from 260 rwkw to around 220 rwkw in the same 1,500 rpm bracket. Result = much easier to drive.

    • What can't be done with a little bit of decking board or similar timber bolted to a hub flange via 2 wheel nuts is not worth talking about.
    • I noticed something. On the tps sensor and the sensor behind the adjustment screw is adjusted towards the far left. Are these screws supposed to be centered? (this sensor was in the same position before the tune as well)  Also attached a photo of where my car usually idles at when warm (sometimes a tiny bit above that). I think I might have screwed up the calculation and it might have better than I thought lol at 750rpm still not 650rpm though.      
    • So for both general interest of engine health, and to rule out any coolant/oil issues, I organised an oil analysis done on the 125,000klm oil Results below, all good, just a bit of fuel dilution which I'm not too worried about
    • This is actually a really good way of measuring what wheels fit. If only there was a similar measurement between hub face and suspension :p That said, it's probably pretty simple to actually measure it all with the wheel off the car for the rear. The front is a bit more complex but.. 
    • Being the top Google search result for R34 wheel-related inquiries, lemme throw down my experience. I calculated that 100mm from hub face to wheel face is about the perfect fitment for my ENR34 sedan.  I've been running 18x8.5s, ET35, with a 1" spacer. So, 8.5in to mm = 216mm. 216/2 = 108mm. 108-35 = 73mm. 73+ 25 (1" to mm) = 98mm.  If you wanna get close to this on dif widths, here are the offsets you'll want: 9" - ET around 15mm 9.5" - ET around 20mm 10" - you're crazy, but ET around 30mm All these should fit perfectly on a non-widebody, non-GTR Skyline. Note that it's probably the absolute max, and you're probably better off running a couple degrees of camber in this config, but it looks great, super flush.
