I'm thinking about flogging my pfc off and remapping the stock ecu.

Its not too expensive to get setup with the uv eraser, eeprom burner and what not.

Not for any major reason apart from just because I can. :D

so what oem replacement ecu's are compatible for an r33 25t that are also relatively cheap to remap.

i want management and I want it for 500-700 an that doesnt seem likely to bloody happen.

Remapped Z32 ECU with a few pins swapped is your only option for close to your budget.

Nup - another option

SAFC-II plus a SITC, both from Apexi. One for the air/fuel and one for ignition timing

Im quietly confident I'll be able to see over 240rwkw at 1bar from my RB25det once these piggybacks are tuned tro suit the new highflow turbo.

I too am in this exact position, I have an R34 GTT and I need something at the very least to clean up my air/fuel ratios and have been very undecided in what to get. Here have been my thoughts:

PFC: Yes it does pretty much everything, but I came along a bit too late and now are almost impossible to get and they are becoming very overpriced. Also dont like that I can't just *easily* connect up a notebook computer and play with things easily that way. It's a bit primitive in that sence ;) If someone could offer me an R34 GTT one second hand at a good price I would still be very interested :O

SAFC2 or Neo: These will at least solve my basic issue of AF ratios. I think they are a bit of a rip off through for what they do. At least the Neo looks pretty and would be easier for me to mount in the car. If I went down this path though it would always be in the back of my mind that it sucks not having control over ignition etc, no speed cut remover etc. Cheap to tune though.

Jaycar Fuel Adjuster: Was looking into building one of these but through bugger it, would rather spend a few extra hundred dollars and get the Neo as it looks better, and people are just more familiar with them. Upside was that the cost to me seems more inline with what something like this is worth considering the pretty basic function it performs. Also was considering biulding the Jaycar EBC which would have gone well with this. Anyway this option is out the window now.

EManage Blue: I would not bother with this, the extra features of the Ultimate make this unappealing. Does work with the Profec E01 though.

Emanage Ultimate: I really like the idea of this except for the fact that it does not support the E-01 (only the older Blue one does) for monitoring and programming, I think this is so stupid!!! Otherwise it sounds great. For not much more money than the Apex Neo (kinda) you get something that controls all the vital things that I would like to have in addition to simple AF ratios, and even though it is still a piggyback it is pretty comprehensive. Also removes speed limiter etc, which I like the idea of. I realise the cost to tune it properly will be similar to a PFC though. I would probably attempt to wire it in myself. Would be good if you could buy adapter plugs though for each car ECU model so it would almost be plug and play beween the E-Manage harness, the ECU and the cars loom wiring - some people have told me there are adapters that can do this but have not found any concrete evidence or prices on these.

So that is where I am at the moment, and I am leaning towards the E-Manage Ultimate at the moment. I just need to find a good tuner in Perth who has lots of experience with these and have a chat to them about what there thoughts are.

So can anyone tell me why I definately should steer clear of the EManage Ultimate, keeping in mind I only want 200rwkws now, and maybe 250rwkw's down the track if i need to replace my turbo? Thanks :O

There are a few R34's that have had an R32 ecu wired in insted of the R34 ecu. this is due to the tunability of the factory R32 ecu.

you can pick one up for $100 have it socketed for $30 and wired into your car for around $200 and you can even have nissan consult software checking everything and outputting it to a laptop for you.

then any have to do is pay someone to tune it.

There is one downside... VCT can not be controlled by an R32 ecu so you would need an aftermarket controller.

includng a controller you could have it in, tuned and done for around $1000

good value IMO...

Not to mention a million other things that you lose the second you try this option, why wouldn't you just chip the R34 board and get a tune for $1000?????

factory limits are not "removed" as such by the emanage , the sensor readings are just fudged not to hit them . this could cause some issues on the 34 as it has more aggressive limits in place .

get your factory ecu remapped , that will get rid of the limiters

I use a power Fc on my R34 Neo engine in my R33, as i removed the traction control and a heap of the other crap (Not to mention originally it was an auto engine)... so after halving the size of the loome and the inputs /outputs to the std. ecu, i found it didn't run as smooth and had to go to a power Fc, it does the job and it does it well.

I would however like to try the Ultimate, and was wondering if anyone had used it with S15 480cc injectors, greddy plenum and other basic mods? How user friendly is it for Skylines? I brought my ecr34 PFC just before they stopped and i am spewing now that i never got one for my rb25 s1 R33 Racecar as well... It has the above mentioned mods, and if i knew i could run the above basic mods and a few others it has to produce around the 230rwkw mark i would get one. Most tuners i have talked to are more confident with the PFC.

You want to sell me you R34 PFC? :(

I've been off line for most of the week, but looking around again this weekend... can't find any 34 GTT PFCs for sale.

either emanage Ultimate OR ROM Tune will be my choice.

unfortunately, I think the ROM tune will limit me to 1 tuner in Bris (Mercury).

Matty Spry also

Thanks mate!! that is good news!

I know Matty Spry has a great reputation around brisbane.

keen to have a chat to you at some stage. plus, I still have to get a TCS switch from you

for a re-map done its what 600 buckz, but i thoght that its realli limited??

what power output can u get out of a stock re-mapped unit?

can you use it if you just going bigger on the injectors and a bigger turbo?

Injector selection does need to be a little carefull but apart from that there's no issues.

I'll be remapping the ecu myself so all up only 200-300 including the eeprom burners etc..

The PFC IS easier to tune but if I have the software and hardware to do it, its just as easy for myself.

ohhhh well there you go thats no go for me have nota clue guess, i'll have to wait like the others for a good option.. once again i got told by another reputable tuner that e-manage ultimates are crap hard to tune.. so thats a no go, thought re-map yet bit hesitant... i guess its up to callin on some players upn ere to help us find a suitable ecu now....

    • Sadly I can confirm if you are actually seeking to drift, you will quite easily spin up one wheel. Even if you're going in a straight line. I am not entirely sure of the metrics/terminology here but there's only a certain amount that the helical will actually spin both wheels. I've seen it on video with my own car where two lines of smoke switch over to just one after you really get in to it. Unlike with a clutch diff where you can keep your foot planted until the car regains grip, in my experience with the helical you want to be utilizing traction control allowing LIMITED slip or lifting (partially) when you start to spin up both tyres with a Nissan helical. Which makes them pretty sub optimal for drifting duty. That said... this is probably a helical on numbers alone. Just put the Kazz in
    • Let's just fix the problem by f**king the rest of the gearbox.
    • Unlikely, as per Greg's post. This is not helical diff behaviour unless one wheel is up off the ground. Shimming what? You don't "shim" a mechanical LSD. Probably not in the sense that you have heard of people "shimming" a diff. And the process that Nissan f**kwits call "shimming" a diff involves super-preloading a VLSD cartridge against the side of the diff to create a friction/wear point (in a place that it wasn't supposed to have one) to make the sloppy, useless, viscous diff into a hybrid viscous/mech abortion. In case it isn't clear, I consider the process to be stupid. Nike.
    • How much does the shifter move when the car is in gear with the engine off? If it is more than about 1cm you need to replace your shifter bush. Your shifts will just get crunchier, not faster, with a short shifter unless you also rebuild the whole box
