Why do you want to N/A a turbo engine....?

Just thought i would ask...

i was holding back on that question also....

people waste money to go forwards not backwards,

it would be a better idea to sell the car and buy a non turbo one?

instead of being down on money you will have money left over or you could even upgrade to a 33 non turbo

Because I dont know what kind of deadshit drove the cars..

At least with this.. I know everything thats happened to it.. I know how well it runs.. I know that everything is in perfect working order and of a high quality.

I would be wasting more time/money in fixong other peoples problems.

Where as with this.. I can spend 1K save more money.. and easly swap it back to turbo further down the track.

well pretty much all you will need im guessing would be, na ecu, na intake pipe, na exhuast headers, and possibly na injectors oh and to fiddle with the timing. otherwise should be pretty easy.

just find out what people need for converting an na to turbo, and reverse it

Your logic makes no sense, however, if you must:

Swap the entire engine over. You can pick up a decent RB25DE for under $1k which will bolt straight up to your existing box & flywheel.

Saves mucking around

I aggree with the above but it doesnt suit your " know everything thats happened to it.. I know how well it runs.. I know that everything is in perfect working order and of a high quality." argument.

Essentially all you need is to remove all the turbo gear, and run some stock headers (or some extractors)

But i would probably take it a bit further than that and revert to N/A Injectors and ECU, also up the compression to something similar to stock whether it be by some shaving/decking and/or NA different pistons - better for fuel economy. Cam etc is the same...

But if i was you.. i would be selling it and buying a second hand RB25, something a little more drivable as an N/A and just as good economy

As stated above it wont be any cheaper. It will drive worse than an NA model due to lower compression. Bite the bullet sell it and buy an NA car. U can get tests done to see if you are buying a healthy car or not. Not everyone thrashes the living daylights out of our cars.

Cheers

Chris

something different :)

u'd be the first to do it

as suggested, sell it and buy a n/a, u'd have money your way, rather than spending it

cant u just get 3rd party insurance

how much did it end up costing?

not being rude but u would have made money selling the turbo and buying the n/a....not sure that i would spend money when i could make money....also the car is still in the turbo model so it should still have attracted the higher insurance....what did u end up having to do?

Well.. To all you nay sayers..

Its been completed..

4 Door R32 GTS4 with RB25DE.. and it runs as sweet as.

In your original post you said it was an RB20DET going to RB20DE. My engine knowledge isn't encyclopedic, but the last time I checked pulling the turbocharger off an engine didn't give it another half a litre of displacement.

So you basically did what everyone else told you to do, and got an engine conversion.

I fail to see where you're getting "naysayers" from, since the objections people raised to your idea were for a situation you decided not to go through with.

You know what you need bro? A spinning, snapping, turning, twirling flykick to the head... LOL... nah, seriously bro - why the heck would you want to downgrade... ???????? Man... you're nuts.

    • Each to their own I guess  Me, I put just as much time into cleaning inside of the cars as I do on the outside As for getting wet, it is really no different than steam cleaning the carpets at home, apart from the cars carpet dries alot faster than the house, again, I only do it in the hotter months and leave the car opened up for a few hours As I only do it yearly, it is just before I do the diff and gearbox service, so I clean the carpets, then it's up on stands, wheels off, service, clean the undercarriage,  grease the bushings and do a nut and bolt check on everything  Disclaimer: I typically had all the time in the world to kill when I was working 馃ぃ, so spending a full day or 2 cleaning, serving and "looking at stuff" was,  easily achievable, and a fun mental therapy day As for time to kill, I retired last Wednesday, so apart from my physical training, my days are filled with lots of random jobs around the house and garden...."Idle hands are the Devils something something" I am also buying a new house sooner rather than later, I'm actually looking at a potential property tomorrow, I'm looking forward to getting a car hoist as I'm starting to get to old to crawl around under a car, I can only imagine all the undercarriage cleaning and looking at stuff when that gets set up
    • Yeah, I'm not interested in wetting the carpets, and I don't care about brown dirt/dust that lives deep in the pile or underneath. It's not like I crawl around on them in my birthday suit or eat dropped food off them (because there is never any open food in my car). The seats are alcantara (cheap Chinese imitation alcantara, to be sure!) with barely 1" of foam pad behind the surface. That's not getting wet either. Any car that I would be happy to get the interior wet, I would not care to put the effort into.
