Summary: Rang an EBC stockist for a quote on pads and after some back and forth he suggested that DS2500s would be a better package for me, in particular mentioning wear. He doesnt sell Ferodo, so his honesty did him out of a potential sale.

FWIW Prices for R32 GTR are:

Street/Track;

DS2500 front: $295 (UAS)

EBC Reds front: $250

DS2500 rear: $260 (UAS)

EBC Red rear: $250

Track only (street temps will cause poor initial bite and accelerated wear, but 20% higher friction)

DS3000 front: $380 (UAS)

EBC Yellow front: $363

DS3000 rear: $380 (UAS)

EBC Yellow rear: $300

I run DS2500s on the street. Aside from the dust and low-temp squealing, they're a great street sports pad. They pretty much work from the get-go, and are quite resistant to fade on the track. They also lasted twice as long as OEM pads, probably due to the fact that I track the car quite a bit and the OEM pads just shit themselves.

(N.B. This is on a 350Z non-Brembo, so your mileage may vary)

I've never heard a bad thing about DS2500s, performance wise, but the same can't be said for anything in the EBC range.

Don't even bother using DS3000's on the street, they have chewed the crap out of my rotors... i got a set of ds2500 for street to put in.

I don't understand why the brembo version is so much cheaper!

I am about to buy a new set and after hearing a few comments am going to go Ferrodo DS2500. Was going to go EDC red stuff but feedback wasn't as good!

Race brakes quoted $540 per set, compared to $555 for Unique Autos. So not much difference, and since i'd need delivery from RBs and not from Unique the difference is nothing for me.

I've got EBS reds and I can say they are tighter then Dick Johnston at a nun convention....

The down side is that I get a fair bit of slim dusty action up front.

i have to be honest hear I dont understand this at all. what is a 'tight' brake pad (i mean is it supposed to be a good thing, or a bad thing)? and why is dick johnson 'tight' at a nuns convention? I'm so very confused!
