Nice to hear Alan. As you say there must have been some error if you didn't get the image as I now understand it must be provided....or maybe that's NSW. So confusing, so many anti speed camera campaigns.

I was caught doing alleged 109kph in a 100kph zone on the Westgate Fwy just before Christmas. That was very generously rounded down to 107kph.

For me to do that, I would need a speedo indicated speed of 115kph or slightly over!! I dont mind opening my car up but stuff doing anywhere like that, I go way way out in the middle of nowhere!

Decided to write a polite letter to the issuing officer and received a reply informing me that it was obvious a clear offence had been committed but they would waive the fine and 1 point, so I didnt have to pay.

I still to this day doubt it was me speeding but I didnt get the picture incase it was marked as an admission of guilt.

By all means enforce 40/50kph zones but a freaking 100kph zone on a freeway in broad daylight, good weather, not mega busy and well surfaced.

UK has 10% + 3 tolerance and only puts cameras in areas that are non national speed limit i.e 50mph, 40mph or 30mph zones as it should be IMO. Traffic cops police the speed limited roads

This was my first offence too.

So the moral is, fight it. >_<

A serious reply...I didn't prepare for that one :P

I don't think there's much point in me challenging this...The only thing in my favor is a spotless record prior to this fine....the marked speed was 60km/h by the way...so 1 point and a ~$140 fine...

I'm not saying I was speeding, because I can't remember, but apparently I was....I might consider contesting it in a letter...How did you find the issuing officers mailing address? Is it on the fine? (I haven't had a good look at the fine yet)

Will get you the details later mate but basically there is a link on the fine to the website and a section for making complaints/contesting on the site. I addressed it the officers name on the fine on the actual letter and this GPO box on the envelope.

There is a rumor that first offences are overlooked upon appeal if the speed is low (not sure of cut off point) which was the only reason I contested. I also sent it recorded delivery and offered to attend any station for a character assessment incase they thought I was some hoon.

Spewing I missed out on a cool pic of the Evo from the back though >_<

Took about 2.5 weeks to come through from my date of appeal. I also didnt pay the fine but they stated it would be refunded if I had.

GTRGeoff - I didnt ask for the pic, they said one was available though.

Your right Geoff :P

You can ask to see the pic, i think you have to pay though... not sure exactly on the paying point.

nsw u dont from memory, my mum got sent a letter with a pic of a camira with a number plate that wasnt clear at all.. it was going over syd harbour bridge n yet she was in adelaide at the time. i dunno how a mazda6 looks like a camira anyway?

always ask for a pic. it puts pressure on them n if they didnt keep a record of it its their loss n the fine will b dropped

if u have never had a ticket before then yes u can... and u will more then likely get a warning instead.

my boss does it... he got off his last 2 because he had never had any infringements in his life

Have given Dezz some of the details from my letter so hopefully it pays off.

Ash, that is the place, yep. I didnt bother viewing mine though as by the time I had either got down to the building or requested the pic via mail and then appealed, it would have gone over the required payment date.

I got a letter back which was a warning and saying that speed limits are there for a reason (safety not revenue according to the letter!) :P

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers
    • Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.
    • Hey all, I'm Gaston from Sydney's West.  I was a member on here when I was a younger lad and owned a mint R33 GTS-T. Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
    • I have to put something here in order to post the photos. From what I could gather there's more enthusiasm for modified cars now than there has been for years. There were probably more younger people there than older (me included lol) which was a good sign.  It did seem like the record least amount of representation of the 90's era hero cars on display though. Like maybe one or two examples of S-chassis Nissans, and maybe 3 or 4 R-chassis. By comparison there were a lot of Civics from that era but in all there were about 10 - 12 EG/EK Civic Type R.  Euro exotics are always there in large numbers, led by Liberty Walk...... say what you will about kids using markers to scribble on a Ferrari F40, it did seem like a stunt to infuriate Ferrari enthusiasts, or Ferrari itself. I wonder if there's something more to it. Either way LBWK have done some heinous things to a Lamborghini Miura this time. They should stop now.
    • Engines and drivelines are not war stoppers for me mate, busted arse bodies and un-obtainium parts and panels are though Both cheap Brumbies I looked at had trashed tubs and a fair bit of rust
