conan7772
i had a td07s low mounted on a trust manifold, could only fit it withthe rb30 bottom end that worked well, i just changed for a hi mount and front facing plenum ben... Did you have any heat related problems. In my engine bay, there's cabling and air-con fridge lines nearby. What sort of power did you get then compared to now. Did you keep the TD07S. Sorry to blast you with so many questions. Regards. BOVed
One to suit your power level. weally!! no s$^t! and what would that be? you guys must have some idea what your going to use if your building these engines! sheesh! Bl4cK32
Front pipe needs small mod to reach turbo due to it sitting higher due to motor. other than that any turbo exhaust. Most peoples, q's can be answered if they fit the motor, and see what has to be done. Cubes
weally!! no s$^t! and what would that be? you guys must have some idea what your going to use if your building these engines! sheesh! I don't know what your power level would be. Exactly as I said.. One to suit your power level; being a larger motor doesn't make a difference to exhaust selection. Airflow = power. Push more boost in to a smaller motor or make it rev higher and yer.. more power so bigger exhaust. See.. It was a silly question. What is your power goal? 2.5" is generally ok for 200rwkw. 3" for up to 300rwkw 3.5" for over 300rwkw All though you can still push a 3" to 350rwkw. Sorry didn't mean to come across a smartass, not sure of my power goal yet, recently blew my RB25DET and i thought instead of just dropping in another stock engine might aswell do the upgrade so Im just asking around to see how much its going to cost me, not in a hurry Ive got another car to drive so probably gonna rip out the old engine and respray the whole car while the new engines being built but just looking at prices at the moment.thanks for your input Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/15420-r33-rb30-conversion/page/149/#findComment-1980687 Share on other sites

Craved
Just a quick question about the water pumps.. if you use the RB25 one, the bolt pattern is different.. is it just that one bolt hole thats slightly different? do you just not bolt that one hole? or is there something you can do to get it to fix? i remember seeing a pic of one with an elongated hole so it would fit both... just cant seem to find it. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/15420-r33-rb30-conversion/page/149/#findComment-1983942 Share on other sites

Medium Dave
Ok, bit of an obscure question, I am pretty much sold on the rb30det, and I have always loved the shape of the 300zx, I have seen a few pictures of z's with an rb26, so similar things have been done before, but is this a match made in hades? or will it be a case of a few custom engine mounts, bolt up the gearbox, some piping ect... Baisically would it be possible for a backyard mechanic? Sorry if this question has been answered - I have only read about 60 pages of this thread so far Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/15420-r33-rb30-conversion/page/149/#findComment-1984238 Share on other sites

Jago
will the RB26 exhaust manifolds bolt onto the RB30DET if using RB26 head? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/15420-r33-rb30-conversion/page/149/#findComment-1985857 Share on other sites
Craved
as the manifolds bolt to the head it should be fine. there is a note in the .pdf document that you need to modify the water galleries as they can foul on the manifold. you would need to test fit with your setup to see if this is required. VHR32
I read this whole tread a few weeks ago but but didnt bother to read the VCT info. Now I have a few questions as im now looking into an R33 head..... 1. After plugging up the VCT hold and redrilling it and making an external oil feed line etc, where do most people attach it to the block? 2. do aftermarket cams work with VCT? 3. Does the R32 RB25 head need extra bits welded on it to give more metal around the coolant galleries or is this just the R33 VCT? Thanks, Matt Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/15420-r33-rb30-conversion/page/149/#findComment-1994625 Share on other sites
platinum
Just buy a brass fitting a kind of t-piece (which in reality is just a cylender with a thread in the side) from VDO. It will screw into your block where the oil pressure sender goes, you hook that into the end of the fitting, and use a bit of braided line to run a feed to the head. Some aftermarket cams work with vct but they are very expensive. And no the rb32 head doesn't need extra welds at the front.
