Ok then, what about the pipeing on a gtr with 400awkw’s? 3” piping on the inlet side & 2.5” on the exhaust side going to benefit me at all? With standard TB set-up and standard 32gtr intercooler.

The std throttle body tapers down to the smaller butterfly valve.

So... The XF or even larger Q45 will always be better.

Measure the butterfly valve. :P

If you do that, you would probably want to grind out/port the intake manifold as Im pretty sure it will still be a smaller diameter then the XF/Q45 throttle body. Probably hardly worth your effort though.

Sk has done the testing and if its fine to 300rwkw its fine to 300rwkw.

All though I think AM-Performance is going to try and push over that. Bring on the water/meth injection. :D

well i might look into an upgrade once the RB30 is installed with the new 100mm just jap intercooler.. redoing all the piping at that point anyway to the 3" so will wait for that ..

in the mean time im just under 300rwkw so i'll leave it for now

good thing the plazmaman plenum is made to support a 100mm TB.

It really depends what you want out of the car and its one of those things where you really need to feel how the 3ltr transforms the car. The mid range is simply awesome and mate that with 4wd, its unreal. I could never go back.....

To put it in perspective.

A stock rb25det making 190rwkw odd (12psi) running the usual pfc, fmic, exhaust.

An rb30det running a gt35r .82 (18psi) at no point makes less power anywhere down low (2500-3500rpm) than a rb25det even though the rb25det still runs its stock small quick spooling turbo. :P

So essentially it lunges off idle better than an rb25 then feels like an rb25 from 2500-3500rpm then it snaps and turns in to a monster. Pretty damn good for such a big turbo.

Cubes, do you have any dyno sheets from that camparison?? It would be really interesting to see them.

xf tb is 65mm at the butterfly and tapers to 68mm at the entry and exit.

cubes - from what i have done and tested and feedback from customers, none of them have complained about the 80mm tb.

am-performance - ant - please stay away from water/meth injection, this the the new millenium and these are not force fed holden/ford v8's. with a decent tuner and pump fuel, well over 450rwhp is possible on reasonable boost levels.

ISL33P please define your version of reasonable boost levels to achieve 450rwhp.

Cause were running 18psi atm and achieving 320rwhp, and with 25psi were hoping to crack and get 400rwhp. gt35r .82 rear.

youve got to be kidding me....where the hell does everyone get these magical hp figures from????? People making over 400hp out of a small rear gt35 on such reasonable boost levels. That other bloke with the rb25 with a gt30r with the .63 rear and usual mods making 300rwkws on 14psi!!!!! WTF?

Probably, I think the best way to determine the power is look at the graph and the torque curve, that and the good old seats of the pants dynometer.

24psi on a rb25 with a gt35/40. not sure exh housing size though. that car made 480+rwhp and another rb25/30 has made 501rwhp on 21psi, slightly bigger turbo than 35/40.

just to throw a spanner in the works, not with standard inlet manifolds. maybe its something to do with the standard inlet manifld being good for upto 300rwkw :blush:

also rb30 with a 35/40 with a 1.06 and a sh1t tune and blown headgasket (customer wont be going back to him again) made 385rwhp on 20psi. since made 493rwhp on 23psi.

at around 3000-3200. i would never even consider or recommend a 0.82 for anything with a 3l capacity especially as twin cam. the 1.06 is perfectly suited and have plenty of scope for power and torque.

3200rpm is pretty damn good, I'd assume that comprises of a nice exh. manifold, cams & a bit of dyno time focusing on spool.

For a general RB25/30 running mild cams, stock exhaust manfiold, stock plenum they tend to be up around a touch over 3.5k AM-PERFORMANCES GTS4 Rb25/30 running stock cams .82 gt35r also appears to be up around 3.5k. Its definitely not under. BUT you can feel the .82 working from 2k.

mr_rbmans 1.06 on the stock exh. manifold doesn't get going until 4k, under that there is some power but it doesn't feel like the .82 where you accelerate and it simply boosts.

But once more boost is dialed with a decent ebc I think it will feel quite good and with a nice exh. manifold that allows the 3ltr to rev it will be a very nice package. It feels as if it needs longer gears to help place some load on the motor through first and second so gets some decent boost in to it in the first 2 gears. Thats going from the experience of driving a vlt and how that felt with its longer gearing.

Stock exh manifold = shit once you start looking at 300rwkw, which I suppose :happy: brings us to the conclusion.. Up to 300rwkw stock plenum and exh. manifold... If you want over that start looking at cams, exh and inlet manifold/plenums. :laugh:

But thats only my opinion. :)

What if you were to get the stock manifold/s extrude honed, and lined? (ceramic lineing or what ever it is to increase flow). Also match porting the manifold/s to the head.

No idea how much that costs, but is an idea.

i was looking for around 3400rpm full boost on my 3ltr with the 0.86 HKS housing...

since the current 1.12 on the rb25 with poncams hits at 5000rpm ...

guess we'll have to wait and see ...

side note, anyone have the price for some replacement rings for the std RB30 rings??

priced a set of race rings for them .. @ $264 ..

if the std nissan or generic rings will handle the 300rwkw aim on the std bottom end, then i'll go with them over the race style ones.

advertise the GTR manifolds honed and coated for ~$860 so would be similar or less to get this done yourself directly with each people.. just an idea on round about costs.

for $200 i'd go for stainless type manifold setup

nice exh manifold, yes, 6BOOST, good cam (rb30et) yes. i put this package together for a customer and he doubted about going the 1.06 but has never looked back. a total of about 4. dyno time...no. 2 hrs with one tuner ending in a blown headgasket on the dyno and then another 2 with a different tuner...........and i must say i was suprised at its super responsive feel

one thing i forgot to mention the rb30 single cam combo is an auto, jatco backed, so imagine what it would do with a manual :happy:

The stainless exhaust manifold we got on the race car is shithouse in terms of life span...they cant handle the heat and go brittle and then crack...just like our one, not even a year old and its falling to pieces. We got a nice 6boost m/s manifold ready to go on, which i think will do the trick, plus the design looks alot better for flow. Kyle seems to think we should see about a 2-300rpm decrease in lag just from his manifold. And best part, he gives a lifetime warranty on cracks! woot!
