HR31-PASSAGE
also will the rb25det sump & oil pump fit straight onto the rb30??? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/15420-r33-rb30-conversion/page/353/#findComment-5632186 Share on other sites
bubba
Yes but the sump needs the crank scrapers (or whatever they are) removed or the 30 crank will smash them to pieces. They are at the back in the shallow section of the sump. JonnoHR31
and make sure you use the 25 pickup aswell. you can just bend those scrapers down against the bottom of the sump if you cbf cutting. blown07
hey people i'm doing this conversion my self & noticed on the rb25det there are an extra line from the head running to the block. what could these be used for? & what do i do with it as the rb30 block doesn't have a tapped hole on the block to fit it... here's a pic of the rb25det block with the line>> & here's the rb30 block that doesn't have a tapped hole to fit the line>> Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/15420-r33-rb30-conversion/page/353/#findComment-5637542 Share on other sites
Rolls
couldn't be bothered doing the extra work haha & you only lose acouple hp with out so i've been told... got any links for the threads anyone? If you have ever driven an rb25 without it you will know it is definitely worth keeping. Up to 10-15kw in the midrange on low throttle conditions. blown07
alright i've worked out that line is the oil drain... in that info guide it says (The Yellow highlight towards the rear of the block is the water return. Water feed is provided from a hose/steel pipe assembly that feeds from the opposite side of the block) MY rb25 block has this blocked off do i run a water line from the other side somewhere? blown07
also i'm not keeping the VCT, i'm guessing all i have to do is block the oil feed off in the head & thats it? anything else i have to do? it wont stuff the head or anything blocking the VCT off will it??? cactus
anyone? I blocked off my VCT line and did not tap an external feed, and the VCT on my 25/30 still works... I know a few people who have done the same thing as I have and their VCT also works as it should. JonnoHR31
it doesnt work without an oil feed. the solenoid simply feeds oil into a section of the cam which causes it to advance 20 degrees, no oil feed means no vct Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/15420-r33-rb30-conversion/page/353/#findComment-5715034 Share on other sites
cactus
it doesnt work without an oil feed. the solenoid simply feeds oil into a section of the cam which causes it to advance 20 degrees, no oil feed means no vct Well mine does, and so do a few others I know of - has been checked by three workshops and an engine builder. But I'm not going to argue with you about it (moreso the fact I don't fully understand why it is working, but it was the engine builder who did the modification without the feed knowing that it would still work). KiwiRS4T
There is a thread on how to supply the vct with oil internally instead of with an outside line: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/251669-rb2530-rb30det-vvt-internal-oil-control/ Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/15420-r33-rb30-conversion/page/353/#findComment-5715790 Share on other sites
muchogarcia34
Can anyone tell me if there are any fouling issues with the RB30 sump into a R34. The guide says that with the 32's and 33's it's fine but nothing about 34's. I won't need to drop the engine any lower either as I'm not running the standard plenum.
