Just readin through. im puttin an RB30dett in my 32gtst, am i gana have any problems closing the bonnet with the 26 head on it? got a GTR bonnet 2

As long as you use the RB26 inlet system, no problems. :D

One other question...what is the size of the std RB20 throttle body...is that what you guys with teh RB25DE heads will be running? Not concerned about combination of 600hp turbos on RB20/25DE manifolds and RB20 throttle body?

Just trying to suss out the weakest link in the setup that im looking at for my car.

im using everyting from the rb20 for the run in...er...excext the r33 box, twin plate, cam gears and high flow rb20 turbs to strart.

When the bigger turbo goes on, new front facing manifold will go on (RIPS:)) with an enlarged rb25 throttle body, or the Q45 jobbie :D

the port shape is larger on the bottom half of the 25DE than the rb20 bottom half. The top half (rb20) i used because the AAC valve is different from rb20 to 25de....

But the two hacles bolt up evenly together? So its just the inlet port shape on the RB25DE head doesnt match up 100% with the RB20DET manifold?!?!?!

Is it close enough that soem match porting/shaping will fix, becuase i was goin to get that done anyway (extrude honed as well)

Thanks for the help ppl

I have a RIPS intake, the whole motor is still wrapped up so I cant comment on performance yet.

Those of you using an RB25DE head, do any of you plan to use a power fc? If so, what model because as far as i can tell, there are none for the RB25DE?

I imagine there would be differences between the DE and DET making the RB25DET unit unsuitable but I am not sure and have no proof to support this.

Thanks

ok...the top rb20 and bottom halve are the same (can do minor port work), its the shape of the ports to the head is whats different...i'll get ya a photo...

the first is the rb25de runners + rb25de gasket. Ports on the rb25de head are roughly the same size as the gasket. Next is the rb25de gasket on the rb20 runners...notice the difference?

Whatever car you are installing the engine into dictates the sensors you will be using, as well as the version of the power fc. Ie R32 = AP Engineering, r33 std r33 unit...

Champion...thankyou. Fair enought they are different, but as im having trouble finding a cheap RB25DE inlet manifold then it may be worthwhile matching the RB20 inlet manifold.

Thanks again....the only other question is has anyone matched up the exhasut side of the ports. Trust list the same aprt number for their RB20DET and RB25DET manifolds, so was going to stick with what i got. Onyl it is already ceramic coated, and may just sell the thing off it i really need to be match poerting the exhaust manifold to the exhaust ports

As far as i know all rb20 /25 ehxaust manifolds are the same....due to the size not being too big or small having to do with the optimal size to spool the turbo...they are all the same. Im using the rb20det exhaust manifold. No difference in port size when i looked to the rb25de head....

I've done a bit of looking in to the stocker exhaust ports.

The lumps in the ports are designed with the manifold in mind.

If you are using the stock exhaust manifold leave the lumps in the ports, if not then remove the lumps.

The lumps help direct the exhaust gas in to the stocker manifold.

Took my RB30DET in today to check fuel ratios before running it in. After playing around a bit, getting it to idle good and setting the wolf to run a little rich, it made 160 rwhp at 3800rpm rev limiter and was producing a little over 1600 ft lb of torque with a very step horsepower curve. Are these figures close to what over ppl have in there rb30's??

Sorry R32. It doesn't make sense what you said..

it made 160 rwhp at 3800rpm rev limiter
So you set your rev limit to 3800rpm?!?!

Thats 119rwkw. Fairly low but for 3800rp I suppose its ok for a stock turbo running stock boost.

So peak power was at 3800rpm?!?!?

Nar will find out what peak power is after i run it in. So i set a rev limit of 3800rpm so i cant get tempted to run it hard when its not run in properly. So at 3800rpm it made 160rwhp and its running fairly rich and with no timing, and stock boost, with a stock RB20 turbo hi-flowed

I asked this question a while back but no one has replied. I have a wolf 3d v4 in a R32 skyline with a RB30DET. Now i want to be able to control my boost with a boost solenoid, which will be controlled with the wolf. However the R32 didn't come with them. Anyway i was abvle to get a solenoid but are unsure of how to connect it up.

This is what i think i have to do:

1. Take out Duel Stage boost controller and connect hose to solenoid instead boost controller.

2. Pretty sure its the bottom nipple, the top nipple leave along.

3. Hook up the 2 wires that are connected to solenoid the the wiring harness.

4. But which wires does the solenoid have to be connected to so that the wolf will be able to control the boost.

Can someone help me??
