Tell Signs Of A Fuel Pump Needing Replacing?

Hey what are the tell signs that the stock fuel pump is nearing the end of its days??

Obviously running lean afr's would be one, but are there any signs or symptoms that you can notice with street driving?? like how you can tell if the clutch is going...

u most likely need a ful pressure gauge hooked up to ur fuel line.. when u pinch the fuel line with some pliers the return line should increase the fuel pressure.

on most stock fuel pump if it is near its end it will be noisy, you can hear it, the noise is pretty loud.

what about the time it takes to prime before start up?

would that be a sign?

Severe Detonation is a real good sign.

Especially on a stock car.

There are so many ways a fuel pump can 'go'.

E.g. one day, you might be at wot, 7000rpm, full boost, and your pump just literally dies right there and then. Then you lean your motor out.

Another way the pump can go is it can flow less over time. you know, things just get old and don't work as well. If this happens, then you might be running leanish whenever you hit it, but not ultra ultra lean.
