Oil Temp Gauge

hey im wanting to install a oil temp gauge in my s2 33 but on the instructions it says to connect a wire coming out of the gauge to the "temperature sending unit" and i was wondering where that was exactly?

And do i just splice into it and thats it?

Doesnt exist on the car. You have to buy and sandwich plate that go's between the filter and the block. This plate has a place for oil temp and pressure readings. Costs about $30.00.
