just bear in mind that the gibson GTRs were engineered, build and raced some 16 years ago and were racing in a pretty much no-budget environment. in the last 16 years a lot of things have changed, and also what is practical and often required (by regs) for a Group A touring car is not neccisarily practical or even neccessary for a road car, or even a current day race car. having said all that your best chance of seeing it is to head to an historic meet in your area. HSRCA have group C races and often terry ashwood displays his 32 or even does some parades in it.

There is a Historic meet at PI in March (9-11). I'd hazard a guess it may make an appearance there.

Almost certain Terry will not be taking the GT-R to PI. He'll only be taking the 31.

If anyone's going to be at the PI event, drop in & say hi. Terry, 31Gun and myself will be there, and it's always good to have visitors :P

Last time I saw the GT-R it was in it's bed and not available for public viewing but I would guess the next opportunity to see it will be at the big Historic meeting held at Eastern Creek yearly. Check the HSRCA calender for that one.

Like Beer Baron said, there's so much available now days that supercedes the technology of the early 90's. However, there is some amazing engineering built into the Winfield car that could be used though, like the air induction system. Tasty !!

what I mean is not much of the engineering and technology used in a Group A GTR can be applied to a street GTR, or even a club GTR or even a Combined Touring or Improved Production GTR. Lots of difference in regs, and purpose and most importantly budget. Yes the aussie group A GTRs are a thing to behold, and worth seeing. and it's interesting to look at the way they developed the car, but I can't really think of anything I've learnt from them that I could apply to my GTR. Even their lovely air intake would be too much work and cost for me as it needs a different radiator and from memory radiator support relocated or removed new pipe work, no AFMS (or at least re-located) etc etc. I was just repsonding the the original posters aim of getting ideas from it for mods for his car. Don't mistake my post though. It's an awesome car. with great engineering and application of technology for it's time, and it set the standard for Group A race cars world wide.

Light years difference in the cages and the way the suspension is set up...they spend scary amounts on shocks these days.

So Terry has fixed the ol RB20? Be good to see the cars out running around...is there a chance that both Sydney R31s will be coming down?

HRMMM hopefully the REAL one from melbourne will be out soon....3 HR31's is drool worthy....

Having said that, and even though Im biased and the HR's are amazing to watch that winfield GTR is GODLY!!!!! You see it driving (I saw it driving for the first time infront of me at the Nissan Nats last year) and all I could think was STUPID....its a monster for its time

It doesn't really matter what's going around the track cause it's all entertaining :) Even the sound of an Alfa GTV climbing out of a corner with it's carby throat's wide open or the thump of the ol XD....... Sweet !

IMHO, these are race "CARS" ! Unlike those things that "look" like cars that race now days :P

Hi Roy,

Yeah, afaik all is good with Terry's 31 and Rod will be bringing his 31. Oh and I believe there will be 1 maybe 2 DR30's in attendance. Edit: 3 31's ?? :P YEAH BABY !!

Only down side is that unlike last year, Brocky won't be there to chase the Skylines around :)

Don't know if you saw the in car footage from Terry and Rod cars ( facing rearwards ) from the last time at PI ? They were being chased by Brocky. I always knew Brocky was a good driver but never knew just how good until I saw that footage. 31Gun will be bringing a few copies down so drop by and grab one if you haven't seen it :) Actually, just drop in and say Hi anyway !!

:O
