haha I can't take all the credit, I knew he had the Ohlins already

Project Mu is an odd name... but they do make a good pad :)

I think it's 33 on Sat with a cool change and around mid-20's on Sunday, so it should be nice at PI with the breeze off the water

Project Mu is not really that odd. The symbol used for friction coefficients is mu - the Greek letter. So calling a brake pad project mu is not reallly that odd. The things you learn.....

well our little alfa did some arse kicking down south of the border. a few probs in the early races, but 1st place in the last race was not too shabby. nor was going 42nd to 7th in the second race!!!

ah, sorry you missed him. it's a nuts little car. driving it with all the other group NC cars at wakefield opened my eyes (and filled my dax). then driving it the second time at oran park GP was one of the most enjoyable on track experiences i've had.

Man what a weekend !!! I'm trashed !!

Spencer came up and saw us on Saturday and then I went back to see him another 2 times on Sat & 1 on Sun and he was never with the car !! Some other guy was sitting there in Gulf overalls but no Spence....... and considering when he ran compared to us, we were always getting prepped and I missed every race he was in. :P

Was a great event, took a heap of pics of the GIO GT-R, will get them up in the next few days. Spent ages drooling over that thing :)

Man, where were all you guys ?? We were with the cars all 3 days and almost none of the SAU VIC people came up and introduced themselves :P I saw some sweet 32 GT-R's leaving on Sunday so I knew some of you guys were there but almost nobody stopped in to say Hi.

I wanted to have a chat with you about your 13B datto thebuzz !

Oh well, maybe next year...... and then again, maybe not since we've heard that our group might not be involved in this particular event in the future :P

Was an absoultely awesome day, best motor sport event I've ever been to by far, had a blast!!

I gained a new respect for the 31's. Love the prep work in them, and they sounded fantastic, especially blasting down the straight split by the VL and followed by the JPS M3. Was music to my ears!

Richard, which Alfa was it that you're talking about?

lol, the one that came first in race 3. group NC. white 2 litre GTV. :P

why?

that's a shame. sorry you missed spencer on the sunday. that would have been chris looking after the car probably. damn shame you missed the second race too as 42nd to 7th aint too shabby in 5 laps of PI! We need to get our shit together and mount up the in-car camera.

Richard: This shape?? English guy driving it??

Marlin: Nah, I didn't see it mate, what happened?

yep, just like that. yep, pommy bastard behind the wheel. entered under our sponsor, classic throttle shop. it's white with the speed stripes and it sounds mental!

edit: here's a pic from wakefield.

Did you guys see the carnage of the LJ and Walky? A mess and shame. I haven't read all through so apologies if it's mentioned prior.

That was Norm that got collected from behind in the Walky :nyaanyaa: He was pitting along side us and when he came back he looked pretty gutted ( as you would ) but they reacon they'll get it all fixed up and better than before & she'll be back out racing in no time :nyaanyaa:

As for the LJ....... TBA.....

    • To be fair passengers who aren't silly and have been in proper fast cars have often been pretty impressed once you hit 4th gear
    • I suppose that's true. Barring almost any situation, I'll never sell so what the market does is kind of irrelevant to me. It's possible I'd make most of my money back. That spreadsheet I mentioned? Maybe I could make back more than what the car's total costs thus far are, but the parts and all that is possibly a different story... Thanks for reading. It was certainly a good moment and just makes the ties to the car that much stronger. It's exciting that the option will be there to bring it over, however I have some plans with a shop that may end up keeping the car there longer, not sure. Coupled with the fact I want to move there and haven't solidified any path yet. So in a way, it feels like I'm in a limbo state that is uncertain; time will tell.
    • No worries, everything worked out in the end. I just wanted to make the point that it doesn't matter where it comes from (I.E Australia), it can be broken or improperly built. I would still purchase from these companies in the future. B2R - Not certain how that finished, this was on a car I wired a few things and street tuned. I know the owner ended up shipping the motor back to Australia for investigation. Hopefully some of it is covered under warranty.  Turbosmart - I always pressure test everything that goes on my car. It's a habit from my career in oil and gas. I run two 40mm's and both had major leaks from the actuator to exhaust portion through the shaft. I returned both, they shipped me back two and one was leaking and the other had a 38mm top (40mm gate with 38mm actuator cap, no idea how that happens). Eventually after a lot of back and forth I found myself with two non-leaking gates. I believe this happens a lot more then people would like to believe but you would never know if you don't pressure test them prior to installation. Crank Motorsport - Issued a full refund and let me keep the seat rails. I turned them into scrap metal for other projects. GKTech - Shipped me out a replacement and asked that I modify it as per my idea and that they would do the same for a future revision. ATP - Can just needed a large shim to bolt up properly.  Haltech - They started an actual proper Beta channel for firmware's a few months back and stopped using the general public for testing. I'm now much happier.  Speedtek - f**k Speedtek. I would love to watch them burn.
    • I've got a Turbosmart wastegate, ATP catch can, many GK Tech parts and Haltech everything. Everything's been perfect, sorry to hear your experience wasn't the same
