Marlin: Nah, I didn't see it mate, what happened?

I can't get the photos off my stupid NOKIA N70 "world's most unreliable phone" to show you sorry.

The ex Win Percy VL Walky looks like it broke and axle (from around 3rd on grid) and was moving very slowly away when it was nearly hit by 2 cars from the rear, and got absolutely clobbered by an LJ from around 25th position. There was a huge speed difference and the LJ would be unrepairable, the VL was also extremely bent. Lady driving LJ went to hospital but realeased that night I believe.

man the start line accidents are scary. nothing worse than stalling or breaking something off the line. i've seen it happen plenty of times when we were running in state champs. especially in categories like prod sports, and IP etc cars from the back have some big speed on by the time they get to the front few rows of the grid...

why?

that's a shame. sorry you missed spencer on the sunday. that would have been chris looking after the car probably. damn shame you missed the second race too as 42nd to 7th aint too shabby in 5 laps of PI! We need to get our shit together and mount up the in-car camera.

Yeah he was never with the car when I was in the area. Wanted to find out how he went since I missed all the races.Spence was probably following the chain saw motored magarita machine around the pits all day :nyaanyaa: I'll let him explain that one to you :nyaanyaa: YES !! In car camera for Spencer is a must !!!

As for the other subject, it seems that the organisers want to move the touring cars into the Sandown Muscle Car event instead of running them with the historic's since the organisers had to knock back a reasonable number of historics from this event because the number's were too high  This is yet to be confirmed though.

that would suck. Group A and C are big draw cards. no one wants to watch old farts in their lotus cortinas putting around all day! we want old farts putting around in their group A touring cars to break things up a bit! hehe.

Agreed mate!

That Alfa was one of my favourite cars from the event, I took many a shot of it! Love the prep work in the engine bay, everything was immaculate, and the trumpets looked horn! Sounded awesome too. We had a bit of a chat with the owner and driver (I'm guessing), nice guys. They were pretty unlucky to melt such a small part to put them out of the race...

Marlin: Geez, didn't even know about that! What day did this happen?? '

There were a few times when cars stalled/broke something off the line and nearly got collected, heart in mouth experiences for sure!

Looking at the results has me thinking. Is Paul Stubber that great a driver compared to some of the others...or is that A9X just flat out quick? Its the same car Brock was in last year, isnt it?

Oh and Count, Spencer is only 8 seconds off the Grp A cars. I say only, its a long way off. But looking at the cars! 1:56 is very impressive from the little Alfa. I was hoping the Grp A/C cars would be a little quicker

glad you liked it! some of the stuff in that engine bay is my handi work! :nyaanyaa:

owner and driver is the same guy, spencer. the other guy is chris who works for spencer now at the new shop. and if you think it sounds nuts, you should feel what it's like to drive. I nearly wet my pants the first time I drove it and it came on cam. it's lovely noise.

yeah, it's depressing, spencer is a far, far better steerer than me. or maybe I am too kind too the car? I know he spanks the sh1t out of it, but I am a bit kinder not wanting to lunch an engine he paid for and all... hmmm food for thought.

he is easily quick enough to run in the over 3 litre class in the top 10 all the time now. and that means plenty of XU1s, and GT falcons etc in the rear view mirror.

how about the F5000s and the atlantics? they don't hang around do they!?

lol !! Stubber "is" a very good driver ! There's no argument there, but that particular A9X has an A4 page long list of modifications that are not allowed under the category rules. There are issues with lodging a protest including a $500 per protest lodgement fee and a "1 issue per protest lodgement rule" that make it kinda hard for things to get resolved unless you're willing to throw heaps of money away. Hopefully that A9X will be returned to it's proper state to keep the racing honest. THEN, we'll see how good Stubber can drive :D Until that time, Stubber get's his glory the dirty way.

Many that "Candy" Tyrell (sp) was one of the best cars on the day ( imo ). It was in the pits near us so we got to talk to the guys about it. 3L N/A V8 Cosworth that changes gears at 10,600rpm !

God, there were so many horny machines there I didn't know where to look. How about the Ford GT40 & Porshe GT1........ or the Porsche 917 ( BTW the 917 makes around 900hp and weighs just over 600kg. ) Instant chubby :D

I wanted to have a chat with you about your 13B datto thebuzz !

Oh well, maybe next year...... and then again, maybe not since we've heard that our group might not be involved in this particular event in the future

Sorry mate, I did spend a bit of time near the cars watching the DVD you guys had playing, the cars looked great.

Yeh but the racing sucked...you would watch a race for one or two overtaking moves. The cars were cool though.

I need 49,000 pound so i can buy an Eggenberger Sierra thats for sale. The seller has 3 for gods sake, you think he would swap one of them for my R32

oohhhh farrkkkk, now i gotta go and change my pants

totally off topic - but listen to video at 33 seconds - is this MARK NICHOLSON who is the pommy bloke on the channel 9 cricket commentary team at the moment?

No, not sure of the fella's name but he was the commentator for the Group A world touring car championship rounds in Europe.

    • I suppose that's true. Barring almost any situation, I'll never sell so what the market does is kind of irrelevant to me. It's possible I'd make most of my money back. That spreadsheet I mentioned? Maybe I could make back more than what the car's total costs thus far are, but the parts and all that is possibly a different story... Thanks for reading. It was certainly a good moment and just makes the ties to the car that much stronger. It's exciting that the option will be there to bring it over, however I have some plans with a shop that may end up keeping the car there longer, not sure. Coupled with the fact I want to move there and haven't solidified any path yet. So in a way, it feels like I'm in a limbo state that is uncertain; time will tell.
    • No worries, everything worked out in the end. I just wanted to make the point that it doesn't matter where it comes from (I.E Australia), it can be broken or improperly built. I would still purchase from these companies in the future. B2R - Not certain how that finished, this was on a car I wired a few things and street tuned. I know the owner ended up shipping the motor back to Australia for investigation. Hopefully some of it is covered under warranty.  Turbosmart - I always pressure test everything that goes on my car. It's a habit from my career in oil and gas. I run two 40mm's and both had major leaks from the actuator to exhaust portion through the shaft. I returned both, they shipped me back two and one was leaking and the other had a 38mm top (40mm gate with 38mm actuator cap, no idea how that happens). Eventually after a lot of back and forth I found myself with two non-leaking gates. I believe this happens a lot more then people would like to believe but you would never know if you don't pressure test them prior to installation. Crank Motorsport - Issued a full refund and let me keep the seat rails. I turned them into scrap metal for other projects. GKTech - Shipped me out a replacement and asked that I modify it as per my idea and that they would do the same for a future revision. ATP - Can just needed a large shim to bolt up properly.  Haltech - They started an actual proper Beta channel for firmware's a few months back and stopped using the general public for testing. I'm now much happier.  Speedtek - f**k Speedtek. I would love to watch them burn.
    • I've got a Turbosmart wastegate, ATP catch can, many GK Tech parts and Haltech everything. Everything's been perfect, sorry to hear your experience wasn't the same
    • The only high-power RB I've personally seen go pop after running for all of an hour on a dyno was built by B2R, while being remotely tuned by B2R. The only wastegates I've ever had leak like a sieve, return, still leak, return and get shipped back the wrong ones were from Turbosmart. The only final drive that I've ever purchased that were unusable, twice... were from Speedtek. The only seat mounts that I've ever purchased that placed the seats in the door frame were from Crank Motorsport. The only poorly designed parts that I had the manufacturer confirm should have been designed as per what I mentioned were from GKTech. The only ECU I've had firmware updates consistently break things are Haltech. The only catch can I've purchased that didn't fit in its advertised spot was from ATP. So forth and so on... Moral of the story, doesn't matter where it's from. Do your research beforehand and stick with products and companies you've trusted in the past.    @joshuaho96 If you want it done right, do it yourself.
