Fiberglass And Carbon Fibre Air Pod Covers....... Stay Legal

Recommended Posts

Please don't take this the wrong way because I am sure Josh is a nice bloke, but I am not driving from WA to NSW just to see him. Now that may show a lack of commitment on my behalf, but so be it.

Thats cool all you gotta do is cut the hole for ur afm to link to the pod and drill four holes for the bolts.....

As i only own a r32 gts-t i cannot post pics of it in a r32 gtr???? however when i trial fit the carbon one in my car i will post pics...... All covers are similar only modification needed was hole for the AFM to pod link and the bolts to hold them to the cover itself..... then its a neat fit

i remember ring josh and ask how much the cf ones are , i think it was like $180 and i also saw them on ebay for $180 from josh

why all of a sudden he changed his prices

hey guys, josh is my name.

im the owner and founder of JSAI

seems to me there has been alot of interest in these items.

jason has been helping me out with getting these air box's out there.

Q&A:

Q-" why 220 for a cf air box"

A- in the last few months boeing jets have been producing the new air bus, which is mostly made out of cf.

and because of that, they have bought about 99% of the worlds cf.

before they did this cf was worth about $50-$80. now because it is harder to get the price has almost doubled. not to mention not may people have it in stock.

so, yes they were 180, as prices of materials go up, so must our retail price.

its the same as petrol!

im not here to rip anyone off, if anything im here to help, because like all forum members i loves cars aswell. and i started my business to offer products to the public that are user friendly and can be used on the road without getting hassled by the police.

Q " can i use the apexi pod kit"

A- yes you can you can pretty much use any pod set up, thats what it was designed for.

Q "the cover looks rough"

a- it looks rough because the part was unpainted and straight out of the mould.

thanks jason, keep up the good work.

@ Josh (JSAI)

Would you by chance be making anything like this;

nengun-0183-00-monster-carbon_fiber_intake_duct.jpg

I'm after something like this for a 33 gtst. It doesn't need to come down into the grill, just sit where the stock snorkel would. If you could make the snorkel accomodate FMIC return piping I'm sure you'd have a hit on your hands.

I called Josh basically he says no job is too big or too small....... Just give him a call and he is currently working on a mould for the nengun style ones as shown in above post

JSAI-worskshop:

unit 61, 575 woodville road guildford

open 7 days!!!!! and we are open till late most nights.

best to call me before you come in:

1. im always in and out picking up and dropping off

2. to check if your coming to pick up or want something fitted we have it in stock or we need an hour or two to make the item,

the air box of the evo, yes we can do something like that. if your in sydney best to come in, and we can show you some different ways of how we can go about it.

and to the beer barron, the apexi air box is where i go the basic idea from, but i modified it to be more universal.

I will try and come out and have a look this weekend. will give you a call. I'm keen to get something made in CF, but it has to be farken nice quality! I am a picky bastard.

Same, Guildford is sort of accessable to west sydney. I'm too lazy to install the stock airbox I have in the garage, besides I like my pod. If I buy one of these Josh can install it for me. Bonus!

Hey.. i've got a R32 gtst with stock intercooler piping. That shouldnt be a prob right?

I must say the first post's pics look abit dodgy as the thing looks like it was just a piece of metal roughly cut and bent to fit (the face of the of the box doesn't look solid and is rather wavy/bent etc). Are these premade or does he make them per order?

I'm after something with a more solid construction. Plus how are these boxes secured and how far do the side walls of the box run?

If possible could you get some higher res pics of a carbon fibre airbox fitted and shots of it not fitted in different angles > preferrably for the R32 GTST to [email protected] .

I'm keen for a carbon fibre one as I don't want to paint a fibreglass one. The carbon ones should be a more solid construction right?

Sorry for the skepticism. I just want to buy a proper box once. I am genuinely interested in it though and am glad someone is finally doing something >_<

Cheers, Ben.

Hey Ben,

The first pics ive posted are of a fiberglass cover unpainted and straight out of the mould, pictures never do justice to the real deal. If u can go to JSAI in Guilford and have a look. The covers are made to order, you can spray them urself or pay a bit extra to get it done. The construction is solid, again u cannot see these things from a picture. The cover is bolted onto your existing setup so whatever AFM you have, the cover is modified to fit it. The rest of the cover fits in the gap between the body panel and engine bay, this can also be bolted down, however it is not necessary as the cover sits firmly. Pics have already been posted.

Regards,

Jason

    • Hmm... From my experience you get about 0.25° camber change per mm of RUCA length change. So, to correct from -2.5 up to less than -1° (or, more than -1° if you look at the world as a mathematician does) then you'd be making 6-8mm of length change on the RUCA. From a stock length of 308mm, that's 2-2.5% difference in RUCA length. My RUCAs are currently very close to stock length - certainly only 2-3mm different from stock. I had to adjust my tension arms by 6mm to minimise the bump steer. That's 6mm out of 210, which is 2.8%. That's a 2.8% change on those, compared to a <1% change on the RUCAs. So the stock geometry already has worse bump steer than is possible - you can improve it even if you don't change the RUCA length. If you lengthen the RUCAs at all, then you will definitely be adding bump steer. Again, with my car, I recently had an unpleasant amount of bump steer, stemming from a number of things that happened one after another without me having an opportunity to correct for them. I only had to change the tension arm lengths by 1mm to minimise the resulting bump steer. (Granted, I also had to dial out a lot of extra toe-in in the rear, and excessive rear toe-in will make bump steer behaviour worse). Relatively tiny little adjustments having been made - the car is now completely different. Was horrifying how much it wanted to steer from the rear on any significant single wheel bump/dip. And it was even bad on expansion joints on long sweepers on freeway entry/exits, which are notionally hitting both rear wheels at the same time. My point is, the crappy Nissan multilink is quite sensitive to these things (unlike the very nice Toyota suspension!). And I think 99.75% of Skyline owners are blissfully ignorant of what they are driving around on. Sadly, it is a non-trivial exercise to set up to measure and correct bump steer. I am happy to show my rig, which involves nasty chunks of wood bolted to the hub, mirrors, lasers, graph paper targets and other horrors. Just in case anyone wants to see how it is done. I'll just have to set it up to take the photos.
    • What do you have in that bad boy ? Ill go with the 725cc since I'll be going with Nistune ( would definitely like more engine protection but Haltech is too far out of reach at the moment... plus, Ill probably have a pretty safe tune as its a daily, not gonna be chasing peak power 24/7 ahahah ). Are Xspurt a safe choice?  Pete's great. He didnt mention anything about traction arm length so I reckon it may be good. When I get some new wheels/tire later down the road I'll ask him about it and get his opinion on em. I heard from Gary that you've got the bilsteins too, are you running the sway bars too? and what other suspension goodies do you have installed or would recommend?
