As some people know i am working on dropping the RB30det i had in the Black R32 gts-t into a R32 gts4 with 4WD. The motor is just about ready to drop in, Just thought i'd share a few pics of the exhaust manifold i built to low mount my GT3540.

Very nice... :(

Got any pics of the the exh. manifold with its heatshield on?

Did you manage to get the stock heat shield fitted with a bit of manipulation or are you going to make one up?

If the stock heat shield fits its going to look almost invisible.

good stuff carlos.

might be down next weekend

Bring your car cozza, take us for a ride, you had it back on a chasis dyno yet?

Joel:- I had a stock RB25 n/a heat sheild i bent up to make it fit. The RB25 n/a shield has thick white blanket material on the underside which should work good. I see if i got sum pics.

would of by now but thats to an engineering company in qld i now have a bend valve and a couple of chips in my piston, the collet pulled through them billet retainers on weekend. so am going through the legal process of getting it repaired. which could take some time.

Had street machine magizine ask for photo shoot on weekend too.

26 head this time???, cams??, be a good sleeper this one

cheers

darren

Darren, yeah i went 26head this time for the solid lifters to allow bigger cams and the better GTR plenum.

The aim is to keep it all looking stock, similar to my black R32.

NICE!! - Would like to do this to my GTS4 as well. Maybe later this year.

Like the stealth idea with the heat shields etc.

Can you get to those Cam Cover screws?

My HKS Tubular intake makes it damn hard but possible.

Like the full polished look as well, looks trick.

What sort of price would a manifold like that be worth to buy from you?

If it helps, blew a tyre last night doing the speed limit funny enough on the new front left tyre. Ended up with alot of hours lost, damaged radiator hoses, thermo fan had to be repositioned and wiring re-done, and exhaust re-heated and put back into shape (that was from the trailor).

Miss ya on the cruises mate, hope to catchya soon, and if you manage the photoshoot this weekend enjoy :P

Ash:- yeah, getting close, still got cams here (sitting in cupboard), just havent been to adelaide for about 6 months.

Joel:- head is only temporary bolted on ( havent done final assembly), i have blocked off the rear oil feed with a screw i made, i may be interested in that restrictor. what do you think i should run 1.8 or 1.5mm oil feed at front and rear blocked??

Joel:- I thought the 1- 1.2mm were for those running GTR or N1 oil pump, im only using a std RB20det pump, thats why i thought id stick with 1.8mm, or 1.5mm.

Are RB20det pumps same or nat as much flow as RB25det pumps?

Do RB30 blocks come std with 1.8mm restrictors??

    • The cam I am actually putting in (a few posts up) is actually smaller than my current one. At least duration/overlap wise. All the chop stuff I hear just sounds like an engine running badly, because it is. I then envision driving it around in 1st gear and being massively sad about it bucking to the beat of said chop. There is an idle video of someone with a similar cam floating around the internet, but mine is a custom cam (so is his) so it'll never be the same, plus the fact exhausts are entirely different. What I want to do is put some bullet mufflers/race mufflers in to replace a couple sections straight pipes that currently replace the two extra cats that I don't need. But this is even further down the line!
    • I can tell you now, when the bracket that the little hydraulic ram attaches to snaps, with a subframe, and V8 from an AMG C63 on it, it sounds like someone letting shotgun off right beside you. It leaves your ears ringing, and a huge thankfulness that you never ever put a body part under something heavy that's only supported by a hydraulic lift...
    • Still not a guarantee fix. I used a high quality butyl-mastiq (the black goo that's not really silicone nor polyurethane, same stuff they use from the factory that just spreads out like melty cheese), and I still get lots of water on both sides of the trunk when raining or washing the car. I also suspect the factory spoiler rubber gasket might not be sealing well, so I'm thinking of adding a thin layer of grey silicone around the bolt holes on both sides and see if that's where it also leaks from. The biggest issue is that these cars don't come with a drain hole on each side like other coupes and hatchbacks.
    • I hate it, but maybe he could paint it Monster jam style and call it...godzilla?
