New Laws About "p Platers" & Power To Weight In June 07?

Recommended Posts

Jumped onto Vicroads website and looked up the new laws regarding high powered vehicles. click here

There is a loss of 3 demerit points an approximately $1100 fine. I then proceeded to call up vicroads and find out a little more information. I told them my situation that when these new regulations are implemented in July I will be off my P plates within 5 months. I was then told that it is still undecided what was going to happen to those in my situation in regards to the penalties. He said to keep checking the website or contact vicroads.

all these P-plater laws especially the power/weight one make no sence, improve nothing, and are extremely pointless.

LOL. OK, I am well off my P's and if I was it would suck.

It's actually a BLOODY GOOD IDEA! Watch the Sat or Sunday nite news and there's regularly a P plater who wrote of and/or killed ppl in the car. They often drive V8 commodores and turbo'd or other hi-po cars.

I will admit I drove like an idiot most of the time when I was a young buck in a V8. Just fortunate never to crash.

I have had my fairly modifiedf R33 for just over a year now and never had any problems. I am still on my P's. I even work on Chapel Street on the weekends. I have only ever been pulled over once and licence checked, breath tested and let go. I have mates with modified cars that are continually hassled. I reckon you only get hassled if you are low, loud, have an aftermarket body kit or doing something stupid.

Its just a risk you have to accept. I am off my P's in mid July so I am thinking I should be alright.

I reckon after July 1 any P plater driving a 'banned car' will possibly get 3 points and $215 fine (what the current 3 point speeding fine is)

Only if you get caught multiple times would you be looking at anything close to $1100 - but thats just my interpretation
