*THINKING* of getting into a clubman - Caterham, PRB, Westfield etc. Wanna go faster on the hillclimbs and track days. :)

Also picking up an old R31 to just run around in, park on the street and not worry about it all the time etc.

Still just tossing ideas around.

Not sure on price yet... not expecting to get the money from the mods back (usually not how it works) but would like the transition into a decent Lotus Seven replica to be at least a financially neutral affair... >_<

I'll probably post a proper "for sale" next week if you guys reckon it's worth a try on here.

meaning. advertise on carsales.com.au

and im also interested in ur GTT. how much u selling it. why not have another R34.. they are getting rather common. saw 4 R34 today one R34 GTR wannabe white with GTR badge. and 3 R33.. are they taking over?

whatever you do don't advertise on boostcruising...all you get are dreamers who will offer you 10k cash

Having said tht, it won't be easy selling a 34 nowadays..every seller out there is one more that is helping to bring the prices down :(

Yeah its a tough market as I am finding out first hand. I cant sell my clean 94 33 for 11k :(

What is it with people offering swaps lol. I have had 5 seperate people from carsales contact me offering me swaps ie. a R1(moto), vs commodore, silvias etc I think that definatly says something about the second hand car market, at least as far as imports are concerned..... its DEAD>

ill say. but i got 2 new calls from carsales today. and 1 sms. i dnt reply to sms but he made a good offer how could i refuse..

anyway. sold my GTiR on carsales. brought my GTR on carsales. brought the R34 on carsales and selling the GTR on carsales.

John at GMR in fairfield, just goes on about you car mate, was saying how good a tune it has !!!..so if you have such a nicely sorted R34 - hmmm...why bother selling it to a market that is quite surely DEAD  ...

hehe yeah he loves me because i've funded his kids' dental bills i reckon. plus he gets to drive it occasionally.

rob from chiptorque did an awesome tune for me, i couldn't believe the difference, not really in outright numbers but just how well it comes on boost now. mental.

it's a combination of things really, during the week i drive this awesome car through boring traffic and leave it parked all day. i'm totally paranoid about leaving it elsewhere despite having a paging alarm system (eg. on the street in the valley or something) and don't have a second car.

the other factor is i do want to keep racing, and to go any further with this car and get it going genuinely fast will involve a full engine rebuild, forged bits, 2-way LSD, pulling weight out of it, bigger turbo, half cage, fuel system upgrade etc etc and it all just gets very very very expensive.

i'm not 100% sold on the clubman idea yet, still have to get my arse into one and see what i think, but i get the feeling the 34 will feel like a bus after i drive one. they're so light! so the theory is to sell the 34 to fund getting a clubman, and have an "ordinary" car that i won't be tempted to modify and spend $1000's on to do the daily driver stuff in.

in theory. :)

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
    • That's all good, I thought I was missing some interesting feature! Maybe @PranK can double check if that is something that is meant to be operating or not.
    • I hope that is not something that bad. From what i remember he said that only first gear is "hard" to get in and that he has couple of ideas what to try next but idk 😕  hope it is not gearbox out. I will let you know.
    • If it's not the hydraulics, it is probably gearbox back out. Usually as per @Duncan's post, or otherwise associated with not getting the throwout fork positioned correctly. All the way up to catastrophically bolting shit back together without it being aligned properly and wrecking the clutch/input shaft/flywheel/something else.
