I just updated the site calendar with events on during TAS 2008

I just need to start making some maps and things. If anyone is actually going to go to one of the events let me know and I will try to make my first info sheet PDF thing.

good work man, after TAS il maybe make the most of being off work and kick it in kansai for a while and hit a few events, would be good knowing what each event is too, like more info on the event, access to circuits is no biggie

cool site though, useful indeed, if only i had more free time not under the car/working/with wife lol

Any chance of us going down to daikoku futo?

I know its hard to get to without a car but im sure if we all share a taxi it would be ok.

I would love to go if i could.

Hi NYTSKY,

The GF and I are going to TAS on the Saturday, but Friday might be a good time to go and happy to grab a TAXI and head down to Futo. It is just one of those other amazing places we would love to go, so if this is in your plans PM me and we can get some contact details worked out.

OH man that is good stuff.Would love to get to Tsukuba,Nikko and Maze circuits.

We have to organize something!!!!

Ill be there @ TAS on the friday i think

If your friendly and you see a big brown fella with a mohawk walking around that looks foreign say hi!!!!

this is gonna be one hell of a trip

I can't see how you'd stand out in a crowd of small Japanese people! Might have to wear a red hat or something.

Does anyone have an idea how much R34 GTR wheels go for in Japan?

Could i get a set for $1000?

Its possible to pickup a set without rubber for 100,000 Yen or less, depends on the condition, and on your luck.

Ah thats good, might try and source a set (or 2) while im over there. They would look good on my car me thinks lol
18x9 is juuuuuust in the size limit for shipping to Australia by sea so you need to repack pack them from how you will get them. EMS will cost a lot if you want to take that option or I guess you could just take 40kg of excess baggage on the plane...

You might be able to get a set of damaged ones for under $1,000 but $1,250 is more realistic for a set you would actually want. GT-R wheels are way too popular now that Toyota sedans are the new cheap performance car.

I suggest you enjoy your holiday rather than worry about picking up some old wheels. :sorcerer:

agreed, you wont save any money by buying them whilst you're over there, plus then you are on a time limit so you can't just scope out auctions for months looking for that tight arse special auction that only comes up now and then. best bet is to get laurence or streeter to bid for you and start low balling some auctions till you get lucky. I would still expect around $1700-$2000 landed minimum for a decent set. because you need to buy them, pay yahoo fees, pay bank fees, pay commission, pay local postage, pay international postage. and sea freight sucks and has a comparatively high rate of lost parcels. on the flip side EMS is super reliable and fast, but much more pricey.

also, with no car carrying 4 18 inch wheels from wherever you buy them, to your hotel, then wrap them, then post them (also tricky if you have 0 japanese) is going to be one mean feat. also, places like upgrage mostly have wheels with tyres on them (which you have to have removed to ship) and their prices are higher than yahoo.

honestly. years ago I used to be dead keen to seek out parts whilst in japan. but it's a waste in general. the beauty of the internet is you can do a better job from your lounge chair with a laptop.

Hi all ,

Im starting to gather all the rail info i need to get around ie:Station closest to hotel, main stations things like that.

Instead of catching a train to Yokohama station to get to Diakoku futo, wouldnt Namamugi station be closer? Or is there something like one way streets i have not realised?

Also, when i need to get to another station by rail, will the lines and stations be in english?

EDIT: This is the website i have been looking at http://diddlefinger.com/m/tokyoto/tokyo/?id=7774_1

Just for planning any sort of train travel one website is absolute gold to work out routes, costs and times.

http://www.jorudan.co.jp/english/norikae/e-norikeyin.html

The signs at Train stations are usually in both English and Japanese.

Nikko - Utsunomiya Station

The from the station you will need to take a taxi 17km which will cost ¥4,900 (one way)

I have attached a map which will help the taxi driver so please try to

print that out, you may want to arrange for the taxi driver to meet

you at the end of the day.

    • Haha yea it's a bit of a weird setup at the moment, just wanted to make sure I sorted out any headaches before dyno day. At the moment I've changed the exhaust manifold, turbo and downpipe, 460lph fuel pump and rising rate reg as well as the previously mentioned headstuds and gasket. The nistune was already mapped for the car as it was and drove around for a few months no worries. The plan is to run flex fuel hence the big pump, which I've wired direct to the battery through a relay to avoid voltage issues.
    • Um. Was the ECU the same as the one previously there? I know R33's needed R32 GTST ECU's or other tomfoolery to run Nistune. This is such a wild setup. Most people would plumb in the turbo then not drive the car (i.e tow it to a tuner). What's actually changed since it last ran?
    • I'm a bit stuck with this one fellas, I recently decided to undertake a turbo conversion on my GTS-4, ended up pulling the motor to replace all the seals and do an mls head gasket and arp head studs while I was at it. Everything has gone according to plan, no oil or coolant leaks, compression checked out, and decided to give it a test before I book it in for a tune As it stands right now, the turbo only has oil lines plumbed so that I don't put boost into my untuned engine, and I'm using the factory GTS-T crossover pipe with a maf and poddy as a temporary intake. The car starts with relative ease and idles amazingly, however as the title suggests it really doesn't want to rev up, runs very smooth but almost feels choked out and unresponsive to the throttle, almost like it's running lean or something? I've triple checked my vacuum lines and timing with a timing light, injectors haven't been touched as of yet to avoid flooding the engine and worked perfectly beforehand, new plugs and coilpacks, I've even unbolted the cat just to see if it spontaneously collapsed, no dice The car currently has a nistune r32 gtst ecu installed so I have no way to check for fault codes. At this point I'm a bit stumped. Is this normal behaviour for a car with a turbo bolted onto the exhaust going nowhere? I'd imagine the turbo wouldn't cause this much restriction in the exhaust without the boost going through the intake. Any ideas? If necessary I can link a video of how it responds to full throttle while in neutral.
