IM CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF BUYING UP A FEW THINGS, KIT, BONNET (mayb) ETC

IM NEVER GOING TO WIN ANY DYNO RUNS AND ITS NOT GOING TO GO DOWN THE RACK IN 10SEC BUT WHAT IS A GOOD WAY TO STAND OUT AT CAR SHOWS? MAYB WIN SOMETHING?

DO YOU PICK ONE THING AND GO OVER BOARD ON IT? LIK SOUND SYSTEM OR GET A FAR OUT BODY KIT? WHAT?

WHAT EXACTLY DO JUDGES LOOK FOR ETC?

MY BUGET DOSENT STRETCH TO A WHOLE NEW PAINT JOB, BUT I WAS WONDERING WHAT YOU GUYS THOUGHT. WHATS SOUTH AUSTRALIAS VUBE...

AND IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS?

HAVE ANY OF YOU GUYS WON ANY AWARDS?

If you are looking to be in like the autosalon... then do whatever makes a splash....

BUT

If you a looking for a show and shine comp, then other than an extremely clean car (make sure you clean under rubber seals, under floormats, in all exposed areas, under numberplate, in gaps etc) but a first aid kit, a reflective triange, jack, spare tyre, and owners manual were all things i was told about by judges. They look highly on safety and responsibility as well as the overall car.

He is serious but, he forgot to mention to have your collars up uleh....just watch the Ignition DVD's :laugh: :laugh:

Without going too over the top, attention to detail & cleanliness, cleanliness & cleanliness will get you good marks by the judges. puresx's 180 & Leeman's R34 are a prime examples of this.

EXCELLENT! YER WAS ONLY LOOKING FOR LIK SHOW AND SHINE ETC. WHAT HAS reflective triange, jack, spare tyre, and owners manual ETC WHAT BEARING DOES THAT HAVE? I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT TAKE THAT OUT SO IT LOOKS CLEANER?

Its not just clean... anyone can have a clean car, you could drive a brand new car to the show and win otherwise. its the small things that set you apart. if they can see that you are safety minded, then it shows you care more about your ride than the person that just cleaned it for the day.

Remember to take things off when cleaning.... dont just wipe around them, prime example is side indicators, remove them clean the whole area plus the indicators....

Ive been in a few shows now with both the 260 and my 32. Won a few awards for both at last years small car sunday, and won best display at autosalon last year too. I dont have any of the "safety" type stuff showing as my boot is full of stereo gear and nothing has ever been mentioned about it.

Being clean and tidy in general helps, and to have something a lil different in general aswell. I have been trying to get my 32 in magazines for the last few years with no luck, and i cant possibly see what else i can do to the car to gain anymore attention, so to a degree i think it comes down to who you know.

I dont drive it alot these days, not masively practical, and yes i have concerns about it getting defected, so i only take it out for the occasional show and weekend cruise.

I havent changed anything on the car for nearly 2 years now, so its won awards as it looks now. I won most ballistic body kit at smal car sunday 2005, then at autosalon 2006 won best display, and then won best display again at small car sunday 2006. Then for my 260RS i placed 2nd in best standard exterior, and 3rd best standard interior at small car sunday 2006.

If you want to win some awards and save yourself the expense and hassle of modifying a car you could always just buy my 32 as is! :laugh:

Ben, you know the answer - it's just not custom enough! :laugh:

Adam on a more serious note, you may have to decide between show car and daily driver, because it is very hard to have a vehicle that does both.

The more over the top it looks, the more likely you are to be hassled by the police.

what car are you modding? a 33 ?

you need to come up with stuff no-one else has done... with a 33 thats hard as there are so many examples @ shows these days...

i suggest working out your budget before starting any mods....

      They should do. I have S14 (or something S chassis, anyway) driveshafts in my R32 (because my diff flanges have 3x2). They're the right length. When you go looking for R32/3/4 driveshafts (for turbos), they're all the same thing, so are the same length. So there really shouldn't be any reason why those cheapies from JJ won't also fit an R34. R32/3 NA should also be the same thing. The (3x the price) D-Max ones are uni-fit. They have 5x1 and 3x2 bolt holes and say they cover all the cars. So that would also suggest that they are all the same except for the flanges. And in that case, the flange goes both ways. I'd be buying the D-Max ones if I ever have to replace a shaft. Because that will open up diff options without needing to juggle shafts also. Juggling shafts is gay.

      Yeah with the adaptors they do look like the photo above - just the fitment within the plenum itself and then further with the rail to the intake is questionable - we shall see tomorrow hopefully once I get some replies from Aeroflow, maybe those bosses are the missing piece....

      Should be fine, if you have it sitting too far in, you end up just spraying the walls and have shit idle. You "can" run them like that, however I don't think it's a great idea (also depends on your plenum, might be good to just get the injector bosses first, mock it up and see if you need to get the bottom extension) Ideally your injectors, with the extension should look like this  (Not my photos, just Google)

      Thanks for the replies guys, it's really appreciated.  It seems the kit was supposed to come with those injector bosses but hasn't. Unsure if they'll help as even with the adaptors to make them a 3/4 height injector they still sit too far out so mount the fuel rail?
