Hey,

Was overtaking a car in 2nd gear, roughly 4000-5000rpm, decided to go into 4th gear and skip 3rd after overtake.

Clutch in, out of 2nd easily, neutral and press down into 4th, slow gear change.

As i pulled down to 4th, heard a massive grind and it didnt want to go into 4th. As soon as i heard the loud noise, put it back into neutral and rolled a bit and then into 3rd no worries.

Could smell something too after the loud grind, probably the clutch being pressed in for too long?

Are my Syncro's GG'd? or did the clutch play in this too...

Anyone know why it didnt want to go into 4th + loud grind :)

Gearbox is fine now and all gear's work.

Occasionally i have trouble down shifting into 2nd, as in it doesnt want to go in :)

Cheers

you have an aftermarket clutch or just stock ?

my brass button is fcuking my synchros, it grinds into 4th and 5th, only at HIGH RPM mind you so its not a huge issue as long as i take it easy

clutch was all the way in and no chance it was reverse. This is what confuses me..anyone have any more ideas?

Other things which may/may not relate;

- Occasionally have trouble putting reverse gear in.

- One time, my clutch pedal stayed half way in and had to press it a few times until it popped out to full length.

- 2nd gear cant be used in mornings until car warms up

- stock clutch also

cheers

i'd be looking at the hydraulics for the clutch

clutch pedal only going halfway in = get clutch serviced by mechanic. like race bred said maybe your hydraulics are shot.

as far as the grinding into 4th goes, most RB boxes have this problem. mine's a minter and even with new synthetic oil in it still grinds into 5th at high revs (4th is OK since the oil change though).

if RB synchros on 4th and 5th aren't brilliant then skipping a gear will only make life harder for them.

does it do it every single time, or sumtimes yes sumtimes no ???

maybe u gotta bleed the clutch, air cud be in your lines. U checkd the reserve,, mite be low.

if reserve ok, next time try givin it a lil rev b4 u slot in gear, if it feels it goes in better ur sync mite be goin bad.
