Hi guys I have a page guard alarm system in my car which i had installed shortly after purchasing the car and have not had any problems up untill now. The unit has a lcd (i think) pager remote which takes 1 AAA battery. This morning when i went to open the car, the battery in the pager had gone flat. Problem is i keep some spare batteries in the glove box incase one goes when i'm out somewhere.

So i had to open the car with the key - which made the alarm go off as expected, now usually i would then just replace the battery and stop the alarm by pushing one of the buttons on the pager - but it would not stop, i tried closing the doors, different batteries, kill switch, everything and the alarm would not disengage. It's like as if the alarm no longer corresponds with the remote / pager. Ususally when you disarm the alarm, the pager says 'disarm' then is shows a pic of a lambo with a moving red arrow to clarify that it has been dis-armed. When you press the button now the remote says 'arm' and has no follow up picture or anything. I ended up having to find the module for the system and dis-connect the main harness to turn it off... I know this sounds a bit technical but i was hoping there could be some alarm guru's out ther who could possibly shed some light on the situation.

Thanks guys

good you know where the module is :) go one better and take it out. that is a common problem with them. antenna dies of the unit s lose programming. if you have the instructions and the spare remote - rekey both of them to the unit.

I have intructuctions but only one remote. If i take the module out is ther anything i can do to try and fix it?

nope not without the other one. you need it to reset the unit.

Thanks for your help - can the unit be reset without too much difficulty? as in will i be able to take it to the guy who installed it and could he most likely fix this problem, or is my alarm totally shagged now?

had one of these on my r33. Shit alarm thats all i can say. Once it was raining heavily outside when i was driving the car, alarm started goin ape shit on the road. woudlnt respond to any buttons i was pushing . IT was like it was ignoring me haha. But anyhow pretty embaressing (people prob thought i was driving a stolen car lol) luckily it wasnt to far from home. A couple of other times in hot weather when i pushed the unlock door button the alarm woudlnt respond. My 2 cents

Oh that sucks, you know you get an alarm with all the bells and whistles and it's just got more sh#t that can go wrong with it. I just want a simple alarm and immobiliser no more of this pager and what not.

I do such a thing however you are in MLB and I'm not.

what you are REALLY after is a GSM paging unit with a decent alarm. that is the same idea has what you have and the insurance company will like it

    • It's the adhesive holding the ceramic wheel to the shaft the fails on 90% of them.
    • Foreign debris, physical shock, boost leak, could be anything honestly. The danger in taking all the timing out of a tune/hitting the R&R corner is that even if the engine doesn't detonate your turbo is taking a lot of abuse from high EGT. Also, even if nothing goes wrong it is a journal bearing that is spinning at 100k RPM on boost. Eventually it goes through enough cold start/pressure cycles to wear it out.
    • I kinda accidentally saw this, and was interested, but It actually seems to replaces the whole center computer, using the existing screen and buttons. AND it may only be for a G37 and not compatible with a Japanese 370. So its not for me, but someone else may be interested to look into it. Its about $680USD. If I am understanding it right, it basically replaces/installs and android pc that integrates with the existing screen. But I could be wrong. https://gromaudio.com/vline/ The video I first saw was the following, with very little and unclear details.     Even if your not interested in the system, the video on their site was pretty comforting in showing how simple the whole centre comes out
    • hfygrte52 what side you looking for? Do you care what color car it's off? Found a white LH side on here: https://skylinespares.com.au/product/nissan-skyline-r33-coupe-rear-tail-light/   Aussie parts place but will ship to USA. Maybe get it before there's a tarrif on 25yo shit box parts
    • I’m with Shannon’s for all 5 of our cars. Agreed values seem fair, premium price is okay. ($210 ish a month, all comprehensive).  Have claimed once with them for a not at fault claim with another car where my car had no damage. Was one call after the incident and an email after. Deemed not at fault so premium didn’t go up either.    I have called up and spoken with people who are not familiar with certain cars and didn’t agree with me on value or let their personal vehicle preferences effect the call. But called back later and got someone else who was more agreeable.
