Hey,

I've had a problem I have been trying to sort out, that is the car popping/misfire on load at 4000RPM and above. I have cleaned the AFM and put in PFR5G spark plugs in.

I have fixed the problem from misfire from 4000RPM - 6000RPM from there it will pop and hesitate between 6000RPM - 7000RPM before changing gear (automatic)

Any ideas?

well 5 heat range is too hot, most use 6

checked your coils for cracks? boost below 12psi?

Thats what I thought. Stupid Autobarn.

Would having the heat range at 5 cause this to happen? I've been told by many to use the heat range 7.

I'm running stock boost, coil packs are fairly new spitfires.

Thanks for your help Craved!

I have tried BKR6E also and had the same problem. After I cleaned the AFM I only had the misfire from 6000-7000RPM and not 4000-7000RPM.

I have been told to try heat range 7. I got a set of BKR7E. Should I give it a go? Only mods are; Modifications:

- K & N Pod Filter

- Cold Air Intake

- Forged Pistons

- Strengthen Conrods

- Blueprinted

- Balanced

- Port Polished

- Metal Head gasket

- Spitfire Coils

- High Performance Timing Belt

- High Performance Spark Plugs

- Gready Turbo Timer

I've put in all new BKR7E spark plugs. Took it for a run it popped/misfired between 6000 and 6500RPM then changed gears, didn't seem as bad as it was when it was popping/misfiring between 6000 and 7000RPM.

Went to a friends after taking it out, on the way back I wanted to see if it would still do it, and I had no problems.

Now, here's the problem;

This has happened before, it will miss/pop then run fine for 1-2weeks then it'll pop/misfire again.

I can only hope the heat range 7 plugs doesn't cause it to pop or miss in a couple of weeks.

Any comments, suggestions?

what fuel are you using out of curiosity ?

V Power Racing (100% with 5% ethonal)

is it in tune? That could also be an issue, trial and error. Changed fuel filter? Any knock? Injectors? O2 Sensor? hmmm run out of others.

Not sure

Adam

I've had the fuel filter checked, no knocks, injectors have just been cleaned. Not 100% sure on he 02 sensor, but when it was in the performance shop they said they checked everything.

They said it was most likely my coil packs but since the rebuild had just been done then I couldn't get it on the dyno and rev it too high.

well 5 heat range is too hot, most use 6

5 is the standard heat range. if you're running close to standard power then colder plugs shouldn't be necessary.

Edit - popping and misfiring is very likely to be tired coil packs. Gap your plugs down to 0.8mm and give it another shot
