Currently my car has un aftermarket alarm/immodiliser fitted with remote lock/unlocking.

For no apparent reason, now when i press the button, the siren beeps but the doors dont unlock? same goes for locking it. So i'm having to press the button to disarm the alarm, then use the key to unlock the car, which is annoying.

the central locking still works manually, when unlocking/locking with the key it operates both door locks & the passanger door lock still locks at about 25km/h

any idea whats wrong?

it did this to me about 12months ago, but after about a month it just started working again? Now its been more like 6 months so I need to look into fixing it.

any help very much appretiated thanks

Hey mate,

you most likely have an after market actuator in the drivers door to trigger the central locking from the alarm.

alarm ->actuator -> factory wiring -> passenger door

check out the wiring to the actuator or take the door trim off the drivers door and replace it.

Most likely it will cost you 10 bucks for the parts.

Unlikely it's a problem with wiring.

The alarm's actuators piggyback onto the originals, and are locked in place by a grub screw. Sometimes the screw comes loose, and the actuator simply slides along the factory rod.

Re-align the alarm actuator on the factory rod, tighten the grub screw, and Robert's your father's brother.

This happend to me...I have a Mongoose Immobiliser.

It only happend I after I degreased the engine and hit the engine bay with a pressure washer at Car lovers. After a week it started to work again.

Never had a problem since...and this was in December 06.

Have u done anything like this?
