Diff Tyre Size On The Same Rim ?

Hi,

I am running K104 - 255/40 on my 17 atm but a friend said he could get me 235/45 SP3000 for $120 each. Question is will it fit and how much it will affect the handling ? Worth it ?

If you're already running 255s i'm gonna assume you have 9" wide rims. Going to 235s, difference would be marginal.

Yeah, it would be more useful to tell us how wide the rim you're keeping is rather than the tyre you're looking at not using anymore.

Most tyre manufacturers recommend a 8.5-9.5 wide rim for a 255 tyre. 235 shouldn't be a problem - I've got a 235/45 R17 mounted onto a 9.5" wide rear rim and there's not too much issue. It doesn't look overly stretched and I haven't had any hassles with it yet.

Its just not recommended.
