Installing An Amp, Do You Remove The Positive Or Negative Terminal?

Recommended Posts

How do you guys install your amps and wiring, do you remove the negative terminal or positive terminal, or both? Personally, I just remove the negative terminal and never have any problems with installs

I believe negative is safest, so if you are using a spanner and it hits the body work, you are connecting earth-earth which is safe, no spark. If you are loosening your positive with a spanner, and the other end hits some metal, you'll short & spark!

This is why when you change a battery, its negative off first, connect negative back last.

Just make sure you do the engine bay last and you run the power cable from the fuse holder to the amp then from the fuse holder back to the battery and you shouldnt have a problem allowing you to test the head unit/DVD while your working on it. :ninja:
