If they all pass the required standard, how do you know which will protect you best?

Anyone who thinks price is a guide is ignoring commercial reality eg place of manufacture, volume of manufacture, number of middlemen, price markups etc.

The helmet that protects you best is the one that fits you best.

I've been riding or been on the back of my dads bike since i was 4 years old.

And the past 10 years i've always had a shoei. I've tried other helmets on in the shop but i've found the shoei to always be the most comfortable and they fit my head the best.

Picked up a silver RXT Boss helmet today :)

As said in my '2nd hand helmet' thread, only looking to use it for a few track days, off street drags, go karting etc. Think this one should suffice quite well

Fits nice and snug and is reasonably comfortable, and looks good IMHO.

Very happy so far!! Need to test her out soon!!

Hi Mitch,

Mine was only around $80 (reduced from $120).

To be honest, for around that much you really cant go wrong. As I bought it from a large motorbike store, they had around 5 or 6 different models in a price bracket ranging from $70 to around $150 if I recall correctly.

So yeah, basically I tried all of them on and went with the one that gave me the best fit (and it just so happened to be very reasonably priced  )

All in all, I think its money very well spent. Go to a handful of track days and its paid for itself anyway considering you'd be looking at $20 or so to hire one.

And this way you have one that you already know fits well, that you know the history of (ie it hasnt been dropped or abused by other people who've hired it), and you don't need to worry about finding one to borrow each time you go.

Hope that helps mate :)

Well, I'm due for a new helmet..

so, this is what i'm gonna do..

1:I'm goin to be really anal and take a small set of digital scales!

that will sort out the weight part of the battle for me..

2: then I'm gonna annoy the daylights out of the staff and try on EVERY helmet in the whole store!

3: I'm NOT gonna read a single price tag or brand until I have a top 3 helmets sitting on the bench that fit the best.

4: Be happy that i just bought the the best helmet i could find!

5: Take steps to look after new helmet: like buying a bag.. (coz I'm sure it will end up sending me broke!)

6: Take steps to reduce the chance of me needing that new helmet.

Did i forget anything?
