from a handling point of view i think the v8 would unbalance it a bit. just due to the extra weight over the front wheels.

i think the car is hot, and the idea is hot. as for a rotary into a commodore, it would have to be an early model commodore, which is nice and light (lighter than a skyline in fact) because i don't think the rotary would have the torque to pull the later models weight. my father-in-law has a vb commodore that is no longer registered and just sitting in the yard that i want to put either a nissan v8 or a 1jz into. rb25 into commodores has been done to death, and the cost of a 1jz halfcut is about half that of a rb25 (even though it would be an auto, but it would just be a daily driver).

youre saying an all alloy engine is heavier than a cast iron...? :)

the LS1's lighter than the RB, and sits further back in the bay (thats good for handling  )

even with the extra weight of the turbos and associated piping itd still be about the same weight if not lighter up front then if it were RB'd.
