They have ECU controlled values. Therefore they are legal.

Which is the bullshit part of the Victorian law - you can have a ECU controlled valve from the factory - but cant install one aftermarket...

Just to confirm - police can tick major and rwc for any defects yes? I was fairly sure it's completely discretionary, but just wanting to confirm.

It use to be that they needed to find 3 defects for it to be a major but i dont think that exists any more, either that or like a lot of other things they vic pol do they just ignore that and do what they like.

When i was defected they only picked 2 things and made it a major.

He got me for 2 things without even opening anything (too low (he got under the car and measured) and bald rear tyres (camber wear)), even as he handed me the fine he pointed out that the steering wheel was illegal (momo race), if he had have had a look inside he would have found the boost controller and hand controller for the power fc, some times your just better off to cop it sweet cos it could get a lot worse!

Apparently getting an EPA in the mail sometime soon after tonight... Manual boost controller, intercooler+pod and possibly exhaust, heres hoping i dont.

"It looks a bit low"

"....LOL its stock height"

"Yeah but what about the exhaust"

"....it's the same height as stock"

Meanwhile my cars parked in 25cm high grass..

It's how I bought the car, I wouldn't be stupid enough to put it in plain sight where the previous owner has an would have kept the stock airbox but I suppose you always get caught out in that week where you say "I'll fix it tomorrow"

Hey guys just purchased a GTR from SA (yay) now I got it mechanically looked over everything is great apart from brake pads and discs needing to be replaced and just a few minor things..all of it im going to fix..i just need a leeniant rw tester just to transfer it to vic. So if anyone can help me out with someone they know please.

Thanks james

If it's stock just go anywhere.. Not really any 'lenient/dodgy' testers anymore

You should be ok if it's transferring to your name as opposed to clearing defects

Good luck

Mmm I know what you mean but after chasing a rwc to sell my last car..i took it to 3 different ppl and they all picked on different things literally :/

so just want to see if anyone here knows anyone.

Selling a car and transferring it into your name are different things, if you let them know your intentions they should be a bit less fussy as you will be driving it and it won't come back onto them for not being tough on the rwc.

    • Hi soviet_merlin, We appreciate your concern regarding this possibly being some sort of PR/Political hype, I assure you that is not the case, I wish we could claim something like that, but in this case, we merely reached out for comment on the basis of the outrage we too felt, as those heavily in the automotive industry. Ps. the original source in the social media post is CarExpert not CarExplore.    Best, CE.
    • Made a bit of a discovery, but while I was cruising, I randomly decided to test to see if it worked and it showed up on my IC7. The entire time I tested it before, I never thought to turn the ignition on. I only tested it with head lights turned on but with the ignition off. Huge oversight on my end. I’m a dummy. I know.
    • G'day all, I have drilled and tapped the hole for the relocation of the timing belt tensioner. That was straight forward. I'm unsure if I need to also put another hole for the smaller stud that the spring behind the tensioner catches on (this is how it seems to work in its original spot). Or do you not use the spring behind it and just torque it down? Thanks in advance, I did a search but couldn't find anything related and it doesn't mention it in the rb30det sau guide.
    • Hi All,  just thought I would provide an update as I know smooth (Matt) was on this forum from 2003.    my brother Matthew passed away end of may 2024 at the age of 41 from liver failure. I am not sure how many of his original team krazy friends are still on here or active but thought it reasonable to let the forum know.    if you have any photos or pictures it would be great if you could share them.    it took me a while to work out he was active on here.    thanks so much
