For cruises check out the event section :iluvff:

But good to hear u want an r33....i have one myself that i imported from japan so i am the first aussie owner. However i will say that its good to try and find one here as u can drive and test it before u get it. Dont get one from a dealer unless ur going thru a broker, who will be able to screw down the price

any other advice, just ask.

i had abit of a bad experience with a nissan gtir engine awhile back snaped conrod just lead to one thing after another , how do the r33 engines go in general ? also i forgot to ask how thirsty on fuel are they with ur daily driving only booting it little bits? , after that experience i am a little bit weary of nissan engines although that may have been just my bad luck..

I get 425kms out of the 55 litre tank. Mine is on 12 pound of boost and like you I only give it a bit now and then. Like most 33's, the more mods you do, the more fuel it uses.

I would definitely buy private and take one of the brainiacs from this forum with you. One of the benefits of joining the club is the vast experience that is available for free. There are always 33's on here for sale with varying levels of mods. I've never had a major problem with my car, just the usual stuff on a 10 year old vehicle. Radiator needed replacing, 100k belt replacement, that kind of stuff. Just service it regularly and use a reputable shop.

that sounds great i hope to sell my 99 hilux and depending on what i get for that will determine on what i buy , i want something reliable but also a car that i can have abit of fun and enjoyment in as well

Well i was either going to get a r33 gtst or a r32 gtr..

i was going to get the rb26 until i was told it was more costly and you need to throw a spanner on them more then the r33.

(makes sense since that one is a single turbo and the other is twin)

I only got 300kms to this tank ( on premium) and its got no mods.. but i used the AC a bit.. and it was my first week of owning it

( = mates going.. come onnnn lets go for a cruise)

But my estimate is prob 400-500kms on a stock engine if you drive like Miss daisy.

And it is a very strong engine ( providing you look after it)

In general nissan engines are strong as all gettup as long as you treat em right

ive had a N16 // sr20det // rb25det engine and all have been nice to me.

But also from what i have asked around and researched myself.. the RB in general is a pretty tight engine..

if you care about fuel consumption, dont buy one

also, i cry when i look through the for sale sections on sau and see all these beautiful cars at such low prices

ud have to be mad to buy from a dealer

make sure you get the car checked out by someone u trust before buying it

skyilnes require lots of maintenance

that said, i service my car every 5000kms and its never given us a hint of trouble

she runs as well today (proabably better) than when we got ours nearly 4 years ago

well i bought mine from japan without driving it before buying and as soon as i got it it blew smoke....so i rebuilt the bottom end.

now i have head issues with my hydraulic lifters going (dont do long skids and bounce of rev limiter with shifting gears in order to get big flames out ur exhaust) so im not so happy....but if i was nice i wouldnt have those problems >_<

Heya jarryd

As others have already given advice, I will now give you the perfect car to buy (ie. FOR SALE plug) :)BUNTA'S CAR

You won't have any issue finding some nice ones around here, like everything, you need to know what you want before you get out there, otherwise you'll get taken for a ride.

Cheers, Anna.

I would recommend that you buy the car with a few minor mods as it can be expensive to get these mods done.

I have had my car for nearly 2 years now and it is stock standard. I am enoyed that I didn't buy a car with atleast an exhaust, front mount intercooler and mags.

Cheers

Chris

Welcome to the forums Jarryd

Check out the classifieds, private sales at always gonna be the cheapest option...

As suggested, need advice on a car take a buff with you when your looking and you wont regreat it...

Skylines in general are fun cars you will be sure to enjoy!!!

I have just gone through the same excercise and boy, are there some traps out there. My experiences were as followers, Dealers arent worth the time. Their cars are generally priced considerably higher than private sale cars and are in nowhere near the condition for the money. There may be dealers around who dont fit this description but i didnt find any.

SEcond worst on the list were so called student cars. cant afford to fix this or that, need money for school books etc. Generally these cars just werent maintained.

Third worst were the young revheads (no inference to our admin guy of that name) 6 gazillion horsepower at the rear wheels of an absolute pos. Every buck they had went in to go fast and damn the rest of the car.

I eventually found what I was looking for in the classifieds of this forum. People on here are genuine enthusiasts with a love of the marque and enough self respect to maintain what they own in the very best of condition according to their curcumstances.

If you are patient and diligent you will find what you are looking for sooner or later.

Good luck with your search.

rofl...nothing wrong with pouring all your money into performance, skylines are after all supposed to be performace cars. But I kinda get what your saying, hope you find what your chasing and have fun with it.

Hmmm..

hmmmmmm

I bought mine from a dealer.....kinda.

He imported around 50 or so skylines in and i put my hand up for one of them..

I took a look at it myself when it was in.. it looked in great nikky..

I took it to a trusted mechanic.. where he said it was in great condition.. just need a few things done to it ( real minor.. one was the horn wasnt working)

Went back to the dealer and got it all fixed then bought it.

It was stock as a rocker.. but it was the 10th anv edition ( option 2 etc) with the factory SuperHicas and ALSD system.. chrome kick panels, the 4 inch doovie screen at the front for tv ( which i will be ripping out) 6 stacker (ripping out also) and nissan sway bar at the back.

70,000kms Gunmetal grey all for 13,500 on the road with 6 months rego.

From the prices going around that was a pretty good price.. and leaves me some bucks to get the mods i want on it.

I dont mind spending the extra money on putting the mods in.. at least its new parts.. and at least its what i want... better then paying an extra 500 bucks for a muffler and a cheap a55 BOV.

All in all.. i am pretty happy with the dealer... i didnt get hit 15-16k for the car and he was very easy to approach.. but i know there are some fkn shonks out there dealer wise.. and also some private sellers masking whats wrong with the car and just giving you their expensive problem..

Out of all this.. the best advice people can give you ( and what i reccomend) is no matter what...

Get it checked out by a trusted mechanic

may cost you 60-200 bucks.. but its the best invested money you could spend
