I really don't think it will meet unusual desing features. they have to be something special that it has or does. but it's just a funky looking regular small car. it may qualify for unique appearance but again I don't think so. only one way to find out though, submit the form and ask for it to be added.

as i said in the initial post, the cube HAS met these requirements, I have been incontact with importers, hpi & officials, and it is now just a matter of time UNLESS they find some other excuse...

But with a car with such great build quality, fuel economy and emmissions i dont see why anyone would want to stop it.

the govt really needs to wake up now.

There is no longer an aussie built new car industry to protect.

They need to open up the regulations to enable australia to benefit from a diverse and affordable 2nd hand car market.

It usually takes a year or more for a car to be 100% approved for import from this stage. The car is being urged through by a fair number of people so hopefully it doesnt take much longer than usual.

I know for sure that I want to be one of the first to grab one for myself and my fiancee.

so is it on the SEVS list or not? my point is, it's only met those requirements once DOTARS deem it to have met the requirements and add it to the SEVS register.

take for example the R35 GTR. You would think a rear mounted DSG AWD transaxle was a unique design feature. no other car anywhere in the world has one. but they did not agree and stated it did not have any unique design feature. keeping that in mind what is the cubes 'unique design feature'?

anyway, I hope they do import them. they are kind of cute, but don't get too worked up about it. they are nothing revolutionary. just another small car but with a funny looking body. they are not especially advanced nor are they especially fuel efficient. they are about equal with any corrola, or yaris or pulsar or whatever.

edit: here is the GTR entry to prove the point. http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/sevs/477-00.htm

well my curiosity got the better of me so I checked the list and it is not on there. but you seem keen and very excited so if you think they will accept your interpretation of the rules then by all means send in your application. I sincerely hope it does get through as I would probably buy one or two.

haha, nice work. There is a case to argue unique appearance for sure. but we both known DOTARS are far from predictable and they may not see it our way.

good luck.

It should hopefully get approved on it's silhouette under Appearance and for Design Features if very lucky the e-4WD system might be enough along with being in HPI, if not Jeff from C-Red and Mark in Japan went out of their way for nothing.

We might be stuck with the COO if not approved but the Z11 Cube has over 200 tomorrow at Auction compared to 5 COO's so the Cube are a lot easier to get quantity at a good price.

wow that coo thing is awful - like a cheap knock off..

i know its not on the list, it has met requirements which put it onto the next stage - dotars approval....

It is all Toyota running gear and now any DAIHATSU is eligible as they are not imported officially anymore.

"Make of vehicle not currently supplied in MA Category to the Australian market in Full Volume."

I too would love to have one of these great little cars, im a fan of the cube but another car which grabs my attention even more would be the Toyota Bb.

To me the Bb has a more attractive body however i would quickly snap up a cube if/when they become availiable.

Heres some good examples of Bb lovin....

Both would have to be great little run-around cars which would get plenty of looks from a wide variety of people here in Australia.

Fingers crossed

I bought one as a test car for the reason of it being made for DAIHATSU not made by...............

Toyota is a stronger marketing name which helps sell them and their build quality is higher.

GOO the COO
