There's a whole industry devoted to it over there - American-spec LHD Japanese cars brought back in to Japan and sold at ridiculous price. Very weird, but understandable when the whole LHD foreign car thing carries much more status.

Yeah I'm aware of that too...its still ludicrous and ridiculously vain no matter which way i look at it.

To be honest, i couldn't care less and i would never be bothered trying to capitalize on the stupidity of it all...

Trying to pick up a RIDER this week or the next but they are expensive for a clean low klm one, the SX 70TH anniversary ones are not to bad just need a set of wheels but the base model SX sucks big time.

Going to be 6 to 12 months sitting in the workshop testing and gaining approval so need to budget the money allocated for test cars which is why I cant get the coolest RIDER I could find.

We went option 2 as it will be sitting in the workshop for 6 to 12 months gathering dust and the RIDERS are expensive for a good one so like the Y34 the race is on.

So people know the Nissan Cube will NOT be available for at least 6 to 12 months as someone will more then likely make a stupid or misinformed comment even though they have no idea what they are talking about.

To put it in perspective the R35 GTR is the highest priority import currently in the system for various reasons including price tag and it was approved 6 months ago under SEVS to import but we are all still waiting.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the reason we're waiting on the GT-R is it hasn't ticked over its 18 month birthday to be eligible as a second-hand vehicle.
So I can start advertising Cubes on the site now, Nigel??

just make sure the ones you advertise aren't below the "retail" price  cos we wouldn't want people having a realistic idea of what things are worth

</sarcasm>

Iron chef, Ive pored over your website and pored over the stock you have and the cars that have been sold etc etc and i just have to ask,

How serious are you about the Cube and more importantly, in what capacity can you import them because i may be interested in doing something with them from Tokyo.

As you may well know, im a local here...

And im always looking to back a winner.

I posted this with the Cube Thread as it will get deseminated quite quickly with the amount of people reading it and has relevance for various reasons....

Some people need to realise a few things before they join the band wagon, and buy a Cube or any of the other new models appearing on the schedule as they must be thinking lets jump the gun and be the "FIRST" in Australia with them, or think this industry looks easy (due to resurgence in new models) I might give it a go.

  • Would you buy a few cars 12 months ago in Japan just to do a story on them.
Sit them in storage hoping they will get on the schedule then import them.
Spend thousands of dollars in testing hoping they pass as ADR 79 can cost over $30,000 itself.
After testing go through even more expense with other requirements to gain approval.
Cover the costs for staff, equipment, facility's, test cars and the list goes on.

Then you just go to the rest of Australia here you go leach off me and everything I have done over the years so I can go broke well you are in for a surprise don't bother as it is to late.

Some RAWS have closed down and others are selling up now, also the NEW RAWS GUIDE from DOTARS will cause various ramifications to the industry including more expenses and the stricter set of rules, looks like it will be easy for DOTARS to police and is due to the bastardisation of the industry.

Read the RAWS GUIDE and see what I am talking about with how the industry will have to react them self and when it comes to looking after their customers property this is a point everyone one will be happy to see.

Remember this is only a personal view of what me and Google think.

Whoa, plenty of grit there.

Im not looking to cash in on anything.

Im looking for opportunities, thats basically it.

I didt know the situation was up shit creek again with the government.

How many times is that now in the last few years again...?

It's not as you say "up shit creek" it is more the players be they big or small who were not playing by the rules have pissed off DOTARS and this has come about. Their words were also if they push it even more we will revise it again.

Lots of Guilty so prove your innocent when some one pushes the nevelope.

Have a read to truely understand it.

lol, I tend to overquote shockingly all the time anyway.

Mate, I'm only a broker who is passionate about the industry and it's long term future. What's good for workshops is ultimately good for me, that why I do applications for new cars to be added. The broader the range of cars, the better it is for everyone. As an aside, I also did the previous model Cadillac CT-S at the same time as the Cube, knowing that Holden is bringing out the new CT-S in October. I don't deal much in US cars, but I know the CT-S, particularly the CTS-V, could be a winner for some guys.

I'm not sure what others are doing with SEVS applications, but while there will still be performance cars like the C35 Laurel that should be added asap, I'm doing more research into smaller cars now. Why? Because people who buy import cars are passionate about them, and if fuel goes through the roof, Skylines will become weekend cars, and they will still want their daily drivers to be something unusual and imported. Dump a Cube on some decent rims and it's a neat thing to cruise in, ditto the bB, and they use sweet FA fuel, but aren't as anal as a Prius.

So, yes, the Cube will sell in big numbers, particularly if fuel keeps going the way it is.

Pricing will vary on two things being price of the car and what compliance cost's and compliance pricing wont be an estimate of what someone might charge if in a good or bad mood.

Anyway with the new changes it will go back to buying direct from the Auctions not from car dealers around Japan or stock from shitty wholesalers that loose the auction report.
