OK pps

I'm still having problems with the thermo fan on my R32 GTR

if I replace the fuse - the fan works fine for a while - and the car sits bang on 80 degrees

After a while (if I get stuck in Brisbane traffic), when the fan comes under a real load - it blows the fuse again.

My auto electrician is suggesting the fan may be shot. Under load it's pulling too much juice (too much resistance in the fan I suspect) and it blows the fuse.

Now - it's sounds like I need a new fan - so which one do I get

The Genuine Nissan item costs $450+ and needs to make it's way from the land of the rising Sun

UAS have one for $260 - but it does not look like it's a direct swap

Talk to me - what is the go-to solution here ?

is it blowing the fuse or melting the fuse? Popping the fuse means its a short but it sounds like yours is pulling too much juice and melting it! Maybe try re-wiring it otherwise yeah you might need a new fan i haven't really helped much huh.

Cheers Matt.

I'd suggest an aftermarket Davies Craig. A 14" will set you back about $170 from memory. Just make sure you buy it from an car A/C mechanic not a parts store (eg. Autobahn) otherwise you will fork out probably twice that.

Cheers

Did the Thermo fan come with the car or was it replaced? sounds like it has a too hire current flow, or as some have suggested the wiring is shot. Is the fan run through a relay?

looks std to me - only about 10 inches tho

does not run via relay (that I can see)

I've check wiring at it looks OK (to me anyway)

will see if I can get an after market fan installed this week and let everyone know if this fixes the problem
