a mate and i are wanting to get into photography - and at the moment we are just fiddling with your regular digitals.

i have a sony cybershot and he has a nikkon - both pretty cheapish. will probably be interested in getting a DSLR in future if all goes well. in the mean time i'm quite content with these cheapies.

- i've noticed once transferring the pics to a computer that signs and poles tend to find their way behind the cars.

- still need to fiddle with exposure settings (any help as to what the numbers etc mean?)

- reflections of people, tripod and pipes etc tend to get annoying.

we spent the good part of 2-3 hours just mucking around and trying to find our zone.

but we are pretty clueless on whitebalance, iso, and basically everything else.

any feedback or hints and tips would be much appreciated.

here are a few sample shots, none of these have been retouched - only smaller res.

hey mate,

few hints/tips

iso: light sensitivity - the higher the number the more 'noisy' your pics will be especially in low light. in low light shots try to use the lowest iso...

white balance..dont worry so much about that just leave it on auto

just take lots and lots of photos in varying conditions..also look at other peoples and see how they've done stuff..angles/lighting/composition..

DSLR helps too, i started out on a little compact canon digicam and got some decent shots out of that too..but yeah the DSLR is a world of difference..even compared to some of the top point/shoot style cameras..

check out some of my pics if you want..check my sig

cheers

Aaron
