Col performed exactly to my prediction. TOOOO MUCH HORSEPOWER.LOL His terminals indicate that he should run low 12 or even 11s but until he gets it sorted hes just darn good entertainment.

Yeah I my fastest Trap speed was 131mph so im really happy with that :(

But yes my 60,330 & 660ft times were very disapointing... :P

i was pretty disappointed with col and jared's cars, what was the go guys? :P

Col = No traction

Jarrad = No Clutch, No Traction

Hopefully the driver of the rail car wasnt a fatality - that would be a damn shame!

I didnt get to see too many skylines there - i was lookin for you guys but i was configned to the pit area for the rest of the night - red silvia EAT17 plates...

Yes i hope so too, it would be a real bummer...

That silvia of yours was very impressive... Can I ask were you defected for the slicks???

Also what size slicks are you running??? Are they the full slicks or the street slicks with a few grooves in them...

Cant wait till the 17th

Im out for the 17th as a competitor, ill probablly come and watch...

Last night there was over 250 cars registered and running and that was too many...

I spoke to an official and he said that the 17th will be even harder to get runs as they have "tin top" practice on that night also, so there is gonna be like 20 plus V8 pro cars dropping oil everywhere so there will be even more stops for cleaning...

Thumbs down for Saturday tnt's

3rd

Im never going on a Saturday again its crap those shit box v8's kept doing oil downs and stuff like that. Even the line to get a drink was as long as.

Agreed

Maybe the wednesday night sessions might be a better option?

Agreed

On a sidenote i got done on the way home by dept of transport - they setup a roadblock and suffice to say i got reamed as they knew what they were lookin for - although the blokes where really nice so it didnt really bother me.

don't know where they had this one set up, but they have been known to block off the end of champions way (the only way in and out of QR and Willowbank) and set up defect stations on Sprint/Track and Drag days....

like Bunts said, they tell us to take it to the track, and when we do, we get arsereamed anyway.... makes sense to me! :P

Apart from the fatality it wasnt a bad night. I left about 830ish so wasnt there for it. Missed the roadblock too. I was dissaponted with my times. 14.4 @ 95MPH. I know my car is dead stock but yeah, still not happy. I know there is definately more in it as I ran a 14.4 in the GTS4 when I had it. Couldnt seem to get my starts right. Been six years since ive had a run but no excuse. I took the fuse out for the last run but couldnt control clutch enough to keep full traction. Ran a 14.5 then, if I had left the fuse in perhaps maybe a 14 low.

Just have to keep trying I guess.

But for now, Enjoy... I gtg...

RIP to the driver of the rail car - that totally sucks - i remember with his first pass i was telling my mate he is leaving the chute deployment way to late...

The defect station was up at enogerra - where the old bunnings used to be. The dudes werent too bad i got away with a 75 buck fine and one poit as opposed to 150 and 3 points for the pure fact that i wasnt too much of a smartarse with them. They got me for my ext gate, the tyres where the MT ET street radials so they where legal but they where on a 16" rim and i had my 17s on the front cause i was too lazy to put my other 16" on there.

I said to them Im trying to do the right thing by taking it to the track and I still get f**ked - but it doesnt matter what u say at that point as your getting a fine either way - just dont be too much of a smartarse and u may get of lightly like i did.

Cheers Col for the props, i was testing out my half track to full track mph with a few little changes and it seems to be working, next time i hit the track i will have a fair bit more hp as the car will be tuned properly. I wasnt getting much traction with the 255 50 16 MT ET street radials - i figured out why on the way home though. My tyre pressure gauge lies!!! I thought i had 15psi of tyre pressure - turns out when i went to pump them back up they had 22psi.

Im spewing i missed your car - i would have loved to see another import go over 130mph!

My thoughts go out to his family... Drag racing is a dangerous sport and I think this is a reminder of that fact...

Im unsure which car was the one that ended the night, but I had a close look at a few of the rail cars and saw the drivers of all three prepairing for their runs... Its sad to think they were right there and 100% healthy only minutes before they ran... My thoughts go out to the families...

As for the road block, i didnt see any. However when I went past Harveys Everton Park on the way home there was a police road block with just 2 cops they were looking for something but im un sure what... The cop just waved me throught the road block...

As for the night, I was warned by the tower if I go any faster Im gonna get pulled from the event and made to comply with the rules... I ran a 131mph and they gave me a verbal warning if I break 135 I would be pulled for the rest of the everning...

WOW I got a 131mph with a 13 second pass... :(

Fast car... NOT...

The defect station was up at enogerra - where the old bunnings used to be.

Arhhh that was the one I went throught too then...

Well the police just waved me through with my HID head lights and rear guards that were full of rubber... :(

oh, col, what did you end up running, out of curiosity?

um the best over ET was a 13.2 @ 122mph...

the best mph was 13.6 @ 131mph...

sweet thanks col.I hope he got some of my last burn out becuase I got really out of shape on that one

Ill let you know...

hey col, thinking about ur mph and looking at other cars's mph, a 131mph is good for a 10sec pass, and i remember seeing a 113mph on one of urs. u sure it was 131 and not 113? :)

Yeah i ran 113,114,121,131mph across the 4 runs...

The 131mph pass was made on 18 psi through 1st and 2nd and then scramble boost at 21psi for 3rd and 4th...

She pingged her tits off... So it was not a healty run and the check engine light flashed and knock reached 93 so I wont be doing that again with out some extra RON in the fuel tank like C16...

121mph was the best I could do with 18psi through all gears...

I know the car has 10's in it... It just I cant get the power down, i need to buy some nice wide slicks...

Ill be calling Mickey Tompson tomorrow for some advice before going out and buying anything...

Ill give them my cars specs and let them tell me what needs to be done in terms of rubber/rims...

I have heard too many stories about low profile slicks not being any good, so 16" is the smallest rims a R33 can fit, so ill let them tell me what to do. Im open to any advice they wanta give me...

I thought about street slicks but i think im gonna need every little bit of rubber so im keen to go for full ET Slicks...

131mph is massive - get some drag radials & you've got yourself a 10!!!

I hope so, but my next worry is that im gonna snap something, like the axels or a tail shaft or something...

Ill let you guys know what M<ickey Thompson have to say...

    • Reading your posts Josh, sometimes I feel like I've gone in a time machine back to the 90's when everyone was doe-eyed and figuring things out for the first time.  I've lost track of how many single turbo GTR's I've seen on track that haven't burnt down lol. Everything has been figured out a long time ago. These things are at the point now where its essentially turn-key to go single turbo.
    • Among other things yes. Making sure to either use an oil pressure regulator or the right restrictor size for your oil pump/range of oil viscosities you intend to run, making sure you plumb the lines correctly, turbo should be placed such that it siphons properly even when the water pump isn't turning so you don't boil coolant in the turbo after shutdown, oil return should be low resistance and also preferably picking the one that is most likely to return to the pickup as opposed to some other irrelevant part of the pan. It's far from impossible to figure this out but I have seen people really, really struggle and if that's the case it's easier to just take the path of least resistance. To me, bolt-on twin turbos are a fixed cost whereas single turbo is almost unbounded.
    • Latest round of updates on the car. I purchased and installed a SWS clutch slipper to help with 60ft times and got some second-hand good condition 275/40R17 Hoosier DR2 radials. Test and tune in November showed the tyres were an upgrade over my over 15 year old mickey Thompson's and I got a 1.8 second 60ft and pb et of 11.71 but even then, that run wasn't great due to rain and driver error (the event got called off 10 minutes later fast forward to the weekend just gone 25th of Jan and there was finally a break in the weather to let racing happen. The first run the track was slippery and only managed a 12.1@129 Second run the track was better and got a new pb et and mph: 11.54@131   Lith and I then worked out that I installed the previously mentioned clutch slipper incorrectly and its never been working, and I had just been dumping the clutch the entire time, we also noticed it was on street boost and not race boost. So I lined up for a third run with the car turned up in the first two gears, but the passengers side axle objected to clutch dumps and left the chat which stopped my weekend.   so there will be another attempt in the future once I replace the tyres as they rubbed and are stuffed now. but a low 11 should be on the cards.
    • Ceramic coating and heat shielding, you mean?
    • Turbos don't require pulling the motor apart so that's "easier". I would recommend the Nismo R3 turbos instead if you want to do stock twin turbo. It doesn't make as much power as the 2530s but it's only like ~50 whp off the mark and should have better response (ball bearing CHRA, slightly smaller turbo). A local that went with a Garrett G30 and 6boost manifold recently nearly burned his car to the ground after the hood insulator started melting and and burning so if you go single turbo I recommend doing a lot of research and validation work to make sure you don't do the same.
