Well the RB20DET (R32) is an all round good performer and has rather strong internals, so can handle like up to around 240rwkw with the standard internals.

With the 180SX's, they came with the CA18 and the SR20. In my opinion the SR is the better of the two engines and response better to mods, even over the RB20DET in some instances. Both the 180 and the R32 handle excellent, but if had to choose the 180 would be slightly better with handling. But what won me over when i bought my R32 was the appearance. It looks so much more stylish than the 180.

As for parts, there are lots for both...so no problems there.

For further info about the R32 GTS-t, do a search on here or visit www.meggala.com

Best thing to do if i were you would be to test drive a couple of each to see which you prefer.

Regards,

Scott.

They R both pretty evenly matched. Don't underestimate the powa of the CA18 - yes in terms of build i don't think its as strong as the all alloy SR20 - There was an article in Zoom magazine (no9 i think) Where a CA18 180 pumped out 300+ Kw's @ the wheels so its definately capable. In Japan tho these cars are greatly considered as Drift cars as opposed to drag. RB20 is a straight 6 and the CA18/ SR20 are 4 cylinders. Still I have a couple of mates who get chopped just as easily from a mildly modified 180 in their R33's which have around the same power. But when you're talking a bit of drag you'd prolly go the SR20 coz of its responsiveness and internal engine strength.

In one of the older HPI issues they did a comparo between r32 and silvia, which has similar(identical?) performance to the 180sx.Based on their times,r32 does 0-100 in mid-high 6s and 1 1/4 mile in mid-high 14s.Silvia does low 6s and low 14s so its faster. The same article mentioned that despite being slower the r32 is in a different class, compared to s13 cars. The engine I belive is stronger stock for stock, and, unlike sr20 doesnt have problems with extended high rpm work.
