hey guys whats the max power at wheels i could expect with a garrett gt3040r 0.82 housing on a rb26 with 2.7l jun stroker kit, 272 11.35mm lift cams, and all supporting mods.

what sort response would be possible? will it pull hard to 8500rpm or die off up top? when will it start pulling hard?

i have a hks t04z (0.81) at the moment making mid 500s on 18psi but im possibly looking for a smaller turbo for street use (still keep the Z for later) as i'd love instance response rather than lag. my max power at the moment is around 8300rpm if that happens to matter and i dont want power dropping off up the top of the rpm range if possible.

would a gt3540r (0.82) or gt35r (0.82) be much more responsive than a t04z or not worth the downsize for the results?

any info appreciated

Wouldnt the general rule of thumb be...

The smaller you go the quick it spools the less power you make?

Comparison:

TO4Z vs 3037pro s,

Smaller housings and wheels on the 3037s pulls fast onto boost quick but only flow enough to 480ps T04Z pulls late but hard but flows more to 700ps or not sure but up there anyway.

The smaller the wheel and housings the more response you have,

Ask disco? he should be able to assist alot more here on this one, or another tech

I put a .63 GT35R on a stock RB26, it comes on hard at about 3600, and makes max power at 7500, so it doesn't really die off at all, makes 309 RWKW at 16 psi, without adjusting the cams, and made about 330rwkw at 18 psi.

agreed gt3582r FTW!

but go the .82

on your motor the .63 will more then likely surge like a bitch.

but the .82 will see full boost well before 4k and is rated at 700 hp

while the to4z is 750hp
