Hi all , the RB25 HKS GT3037S/Pro S/GT3076R topic keeps doing the roundies here and the few people who have the Pro S seem to get better results than those with the Garrett marketed GT3076R and Garrett IW turbine housings .

Before I get stuck in take is as given that the cartridges are identical in the available comp trim sizes .

HKS I believe have always used their own turbine housings with GT3037's probably because there was nothing available early on to suit these cartridges . Many of them were T28 flanged and I did hear rumors of non wastegated T3 flanged examples but have never seen them . HKS's Pro S turbos ie GT2835 and GT3037's look to be closely related housings wise , their blurb reckons the compressor housing is a .50 A/R port shrouded custom TO4E type and different to their GT3037S's .60 A/R TO4E Garrett shrouded housing .

The T3 flanged IW turbine housings look to have come from two similar castings for .68 and .87 A/R ratios .

If you look closely at a 2835 and 3037 Pro housing you will notice that they are machined on slightly different centres probably because the GT30 unaltered turbine's exducer diametre is larger than the cropped turbine's and would have broken into the wastegates vent path .

Anyhow if those using a 3037 Pro S could post their results I'm sure many here would be interested . I'd certainly like to know the real word differences in using the .68 A/R and .87 A/R turbine housings . I think these housings were available separately but now drying up , hint , if you could find one and machine the ported shroud into a .50 A/R T04E comp housing it may be a cost effective way of doing the same thing .

The 52T A/R .73 HKS GT3037S (external gate) looks like the perfect RB25 GT30 to me, bit expensive, such a shame garret don't make such a thing.

Id be interested on comparison between any HKS 3037 vs a garret variety. Would be very interesting.

They do actually they make all the cartridges . A GT3076R (700382-12) is identical to a GT3037S 56T except for the HKS comp housing tag , funnel mouthed inlet insert and the turbine housing . Funnily enough they are supplied by Garrett Japan without a turbine housing so not to difficult to fit tag/insert/turbine housing eh HKS ? . The 52 trim version will be available soon at Garrett GT3076R prices , my lists show it as turbo number 700382-9 or -10 . I'm not sure but suspect that the difference is the comp housing ie port shrouded and plain inlet bosses .

HKS's .73 housing probably won't be much good because of its T28 flange , need T3 .

Wouldnt mind trying the .73 or even the .82 or .87 hks rear housings recon i would improve on results as not too happy with what its getting at the moment with the .68 Pitty i cannot locate one in the funny shapped 5 bolt IW housing for these sizes so far still looking on this

I have a HKS3037S ex gate, 0.73 ex housing 56 intake trim on my RB25

reaches 21psi @ 3700rpm and hold it to 8000. Thought about going to the 0.87 ex housing but when you look at my torque courve it's dead flat from3700-7200 then trails off ever so slightly, so for my application, its perfect.

I have 356rwhp but there's still more in it. I had a fuel pump problem which was limiting things. No fixed back to the dyno soon.

shonen on here is running the HKS 3037S 0.73 with an HKS GT II gate on his RB25 neo. it seems like an awesome set-up to me for an RB25. you just need a manfiold with the right flange but if you're going external gate anyway that's not a problem. I can't remeber exactly what he made but it was pretty good, and doesn't seem too laggy at all.

Can anyone here tell me if you need a spacer plate to fit HKS 3037 Pro S (internal gate) 56T with stock manifold?

I was under the impression they fit fine with stock manifold as oppose to GT30R which require a spacer plate.

And is it difficult to get a dump pipe made up for the 3037 Pro S? It seem the flange shape is uncommon.

No Spacer Plate required, depends what housing and IW or EW setup you go for

The .68 housing bolts up no problem im guessing the same deal with the .82 housing as there is still plenty of room there. And you will need a custom dump made up for these ones, i had mine done at $650 At CES in brisbane, including wastegate actuator bracket adjusted. This is another issue i did come across, as you will have to rotate "both" housings to get perfect balance and line up (as in compressor housing perfect in respect to the manifold, and all feed and drain holes to line up perfectly, the perfect degree) you will have to modify the wastegate actuator bracket slightly to accomodate this. Although most Experienced workshops will be able to custom one up for you. Other expereinces i found as using earls and speedflow fittings with braided lines you will find that make sure you do them up to the turbo first as you may have some fun otherwise. Ummm im thinking thats why most will go external and custom manifold as in highmount for most of these setups.

It is still doable to go with a low mount setup with IW, plenty of torque and fairly responsive thats for sure, the question is how comfortable are you on doing it yourself? Or are you going to get someone else to do it, just remember the custom dump/front pipe that needs to be made for it :P lovely pro S housings gotta love them

    • So we have most the interior back in, and for the first time with one OEM speaker hooked up. The 31 is running, driving and now tunes!!! Hahaha yet another step for the sub that sat 10m under for two weeks!!! unbelievable really 👌 lots of love work and not giving up on her.     • That is correct. I'm using a modified ABS ring and a ZF speed sensor on my rear diff for speed input. I'm running a Haltech ecu. 
    • Been busy with the newborn. We originally thought we were going to go for a third, but we're good with two lol. He's starting to actually sleep now so I've had some energy to work on the car. It's been parked away in the garage since late November due to winter.  I went ahead and redid all my head oil drains. I originally had my front and rear head drain going into the same pipe but have since split them up. I also added an Ethanol content sensor to get ready to run E85 this summer. Tossed it on my return line. Sensor sits nicely under my intake manifold.    I also have a lot of parts that came in for my rear end. I'll be swapping over to a 3.3 final drive and doing the GK teck anti squat mod. While the rear subframe is off, I'll also change every bushing. We're planning on buying another house soon with the condition that I get at a minimum a 2 door garage, so I'll wait to have more room for this. Now onto the strange things that recently happened... After changing the lower rad hose (It had been sitting in my cabinet for well over a year and was the last hose I had to replace), I let the car idle in the garage to bleed my coolant. After running for a few minutes, it started missing. Got much worst within a minute or two and then stalled and would not restart. My crank sensor decided to crap itself. No damage, no explanation, just died. I went ahead and replaced it with another ZF sensor but the heavier duty stainless model with a shield. Tossed that in and started right up. Has anyone else seen this? I hate when things fail without cause. Luckily this was a blessing in disguise... This lead me to recheck my timing. It seems I may have had a beer or two the last time I had set my TDC angle as I was off exactly 5 degrees... I miscounted a line haha. I was running 5 degrees less then commanded. It's a little embarrassing but helps explain why my dyno operator seemed to think I should be making more then 478rwkws.        
    • Sharing results from recent Liberty Walk R35 GTR, since they are still considered as somesort of a V36 Skyline. We do them turbos too. This are high flowed SS-1 models with ball bearing conversion done.  Car have managed to pull 485awkws @ 20Psi so far pushing limitations of factory built engine. The build list for R35 GTR enthusiasts as follow : HyperGear high flowed stock turbos in SS1 (G25-660 specs) Custom titanium intake pipes. Vspec performance titanium front pipes. Vspec performance 4" titanium exhaust. Upgrade fuel pumps. 1200cc injectors. Ignition coilpacks Hks intake plenum. Hks intercooler piping. Greddy intercooler. Greddy bovs. Top-secret coolant reservoir. Emtron ecu. Straight E85. Built gear box.  
    • Nah no bearings, just slip fit.  Would be a reasonably challenging but not impossible job to modify it to run bearings but I'm hoping that's not necessary as I may have well built one myself if I end up spending hours modifying it!
