oh yeah also with gtr rotors and calipers is it possible to fit them onto s13 coilovers? like i know it has the 100mm spacing but someone told me that the rotor could scrape or something not sure

cheers in advance

As far as i know they go straight in with no mods to engine mounts or anything you just need to do a bit of cutting and shutting with the radiator hoses

This link should help with the RB20DET conversion

Cheers Josh

oh na i know about the engine conversion thats easy as pie i just really wanna know what the differences are with the r32 and r31 steering racks is is the 32 better and why? and also what type of irs setup would be the cheapest and easiest option i know no irs is gonna be easy but the easiest coz i know the 33 irs is meant to be the best conversion but.... thats alot of money would the r30 rear end get up in there? with welding and new mounts and shit and also was a question about gtr brakes going onto s13 coilovers would the rotor be touching the caliper on the outside of the rotor and do you need spacer's? just a few questions i need to clear up before this shit gets bought

thanks

The shafts from the diff to the wheels will need to be custom, as im certain the R31 is wider, you will need a customised driveshaft too.

to get IRS on a R31 is a BIG job... the trailing arms need mounts to pivot in and things like that.

If you have a car stand and rip out the old live axle shit and then put the IRS stuff in the approx location you want to mount it, you will see alot of custom mounts will be needed to make it fit...

A Z31 (300zx) has IRS with a mutha R230 diff, (nissan equivalent to 9 inch) the track on them is wider (shafts are longer)and may be more suited...

you would be looking at more fab work and dicking around than putting the RB in!

ok cheers about the steering rack info but yeah my mate just wants irs in his 31 and is prepared to spend time and money on it but if its more drama then its worth he prob wouldnt want it cheers anyway

you want an irs 31, buy a HR31.

i dare say itd be far too much dicking around to fit irs to an aus-mod 31, you'd probably have an incredibly hard time making it legal aswell.

yeah might go with a passage or a 2 door dunno yet but my mate wanted to fit irs into his aussie delivered 31 but.. i thought i would ask about it anyway cheers for the advice people

cheers.

    • I know this thread is quite old, but I found it, it helped me, but I also wanted to add my experience and troubleshooting finds to the chat for others. I have not been able to open the rear hatch of my 97 Stagea for several months. Figured it had just really sealed itself up over the winter and I would just get to it eventually. Well that day was yesterday. Some time ago, I noticed my battery was going flat all the time. It was frustrating. Then one quiet night in the garage, I could hear and ever so slight humming / grinding noise coming from the back of the car. It was like a really quiet popping sound or something like sand in a very low speed blender. I took off the panels in the back and noticed the noise coming from the auto close motor, so I unplugged it and the noise stopped. And the auto close was disabled. Well, fast forward to yesterday, I tried all the tricks with power and fuse and lock and unlock and I still could open the damn hatch. So I took off the panels from the inside and found the auto lock had engaged and was stuck in close position. When plugging and unplugging the fuse, I could hear the relay clicking. So I plugged the autoclose motor back in, and the damn thing let go. And immediately started making that grinding sound again. This time, instead of just unplugging the motor, I pulled the fuse, thus depowering the relay entirely. I don't have the autoclose feature now, but at least I can open the boot and not have my battery being sucked dead all the time. Not sure what caused the motor to latch when it was unplugged from the system, but I am pretty sure it won't cause any more problems now.  If anyone has a lead on a new motor, please let me know. It's a cool feature that I would like to get back.  Hope this helps.
    • Lolololol maybe, man I hate this car. Lapsed judgement a respray and a new motor, when I should have just scrapped the lot when I had the chance. Farken.
    • So you reckon a few sweety something's whispered in her window and she'll behave for me? 馃槢
    • One of the first things i do when i buy a car is to change the in cabin filter, because no one ever does. There seems to be conflicting statements on the internet, does anyone know if a 97 r33 actually has one?
    • Thankyou! I'll add a pic of my Z for good measure! 馃槢
