polishing rb20

I want to polish the two metal plates that run along the sides of the engine.... Is there anything i should be carefull of before i go ahead with it?? Or is it simply take em off polish, then screw back on?

when ya put them back on make sure they are clean on the sinide no water etc, same with ya cams, keep them clean while the rocker covers are off, have fun, took me 10hours to do mine in my rb25det

ok, thanks... so there is nothing that might fall off.. or i might loose.... I have already done the intake... That took ages!

i was told something like i need a new gasket or something if i take the cam covers off.. Is this true?

when u say polish? are u getting a chrome finish effect?

what do you use to do this?

mine is a dull silver/grey colour, i wanna do my intake pipe...

to do the intake i used rough sandpaper then gradually worked it down until i was using a very fine sandpaper... then when its preety smooth i used autosol to polish it up...... To do the rougher stuff i used one of thos spinning machines and put rough sandpaper on it...(dont know what the machines are called)

im preety sure you could do it to those stock rims too.. if you have the patience... But ask around if can be done first.

what do you thing about the blue... I not too sure about it yet

May paint it a dark blue later...

Looks good...Dark blue (like a royal blue or something) is what I was thinkin of too...

Dru...What needs to be done to prep it for paint???

I just lightly sanded it back, with fine sandpaper. Preety much just to take the shine off the old paint.

Also you should use heat resistant paint. I used engine enamel, cost $12 from Super Cheap Auto...

Don't you need to prime it first???

enamel should have a primer premixed in it already hence why it bonds to the metal
