[WLDCRD] damn that looks nice mine is gunmetal with the same wheels too if I am not mistaken, nice!!

RONIN not soft but wallet/credit card is after mods so far, that bonnet was my first choice though. Just unsure how to get such a thing ordered and sent from japan, and the price :D

Starting to think the shift sport could be a winner though

Noy (or anyone) what is the idea of the small vents near the firewall, these appear on alot of bonnets thought that would be a higher pressure zone there, not sure.

So many choices

Okay while Beer Baron, and all others are giving me free styling tips :D

Whats the opinions Carbon bootlids ie run stock wing in gunmetal grey (like the rest of the car), stock look in carbon as well or t-wing/ cusco wing (bolts into stock holes) or i guess no wing. Previous owner ran a big t-wnig so my bootlid looks like swiss cheese lotsa holes realise I could weld up holes finsh and paint but figured upgrade rather than repair, believe the bootlid is heavyer than bonnet so shave a couple a kilos maybe.

Opinions

Probly will RONIN waiting on prices etc. from them.

Happy to pay $$$$ for quality, gotta look after a skyline its gunna cost.

Out of curiosity those like WLDCRD, with Jap produced bonnets did u import yourself or purchase in OZ?

do like the shift sports one and looking at there website (i dont read japanese unfortunatly) it appears like frames an all carbon, Nice.

the rear vents that you see will be for removing the hot air from under the bonnet, generally they are reversed vents and work very well at dropping temps especially on turbo side..

just so you can see what a bootlid looks like....

carbon boot lid is nice, but the stock one is pretty light. the stock wing is bloody heavy though, so if you do go carbon boot lid, either put a nice aftermarket wing on, or just go with the N1 style lip I reckon.

lol my GTST came with a firber glass bonnet just needs to be fixed abit but my body kits they f**ked putting that on(hope i can swear in these forums) i have to take off body kit fix my petroly tank so i can put in petrol in where the hole is make it sit nice, fix body kit and then paint all the car

Dont do it, dump the GT-R wing and go with a quality N1 lip on the CF boot lid..unless you want to plonk down the 4zillion dollars for an Electra R32 GT-R wing...which is sweet but madness

, one with a fibreglass frame, and one layer of CF on top may even end up heavier than stock.

Yep mine is heavier then stovk and im over it think of having a custom one made and selling the other.

Have been offered a custom one for a good price as i want pod and battery covers as well.

Asked Custom carbon bout doing a wing and was told it could be done but would be very pricy (no surprise there really) electra-cps wing yum.

Only "4zillion dollars" damn it would be sweet though. Would the finish match with the finish on custom carbons work, or any two companys, thats why initially I wos hoping to buy everything from one supplier so it all looked good together.

Yeh Custom Carbon definitly is dry , I suspected that the finish between wet and dry carbon would look considerably different. 4zillion dollars is probly to much to pay for a wing anyway. And thats before you pay freight!

Imagine freight on any of these items boot bonnet wings from Japan wouldnt be a cheap thing either.

Attached is a pic of the cusco wing I had considered they make em to bolt into stock holes too.

The Shift Sports bonnet is nice, the weave is amazingly tight up close and the bonnet is so thin you can see the sun through it literally! The vent is rather thin though and I'm not 100% sure about the fit of them. They don't really line up that great on the sides. Not sure if it's [WLDCRD]'s picture, or the bonnet.

Custom Carbon's work is amazing. I have a very good look at the doors they made for the Autosaon/Industrie S15 drift car. Absolutely awesome. Expensive but CC's quality is better than anything I've seen so far.

That blue Veilside car is sporting a Veiside bonnet. It has a strange front bonnet lip like shape which means you can't put a Nismo bonnet lip on it (shame as I love the Nismo bonnet lip on a GT-R) but having said that it's got THE COOLEST rear vents. I love them, old skool cool!

Here's a few more bonnets for yas:

Eastbear (has the Nismo lip on it too).

Shift with a very damn tight fit.

Shift sports but with a painted Nismo lip, not looking so hot as the lip doesn't match the cf. An issue in my books.

Trial, tough vents!

Custom job in the UK (Japsalon). Note moulded in Nismo front bonnet lip and Nismo R34 GT-R vents.

Using spacers to let heat out. Can of worms topic but I think it would work well.

now if Custom Carbon would only mould up a stock R32GTR rear wing in carbon...

excuse me i have to clean the drool off my keyboard.

GB? :D

I like the rear/side vent on the top secret hood

Spacers to lift the back of hood up looks the biz but i'm guessing its a defect. Apparently removing the seal at the rear edge of the hood is usefull in venting the excess heat and is a little less obtrusive.

Seeing we're adding pix..this belongs to a GTRCO member (U.K), I think i've seen him here too.

Got Vent?

nah she has alignment issues which i haven't bothered to try to fix yet. i have a stubborn hinge i think. i bought a set of speco bonnet pins (the one with the key) but i dunno if i want to do that now. and yes...very thin.

    • Just came across this, but in QLD I start leave again in 2 weeks, if it is still available I might drive up and check it out Unless, @MBS206 do you live near here????, if so I could hit you up with a finders fee https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/hope-island/auto-body-parts/nc-mx5-factory-hard-top/1328976391
    • My hold point for future mods is that I want a OEM detachable hard top first, but, finding one is a pain, MX5 Mania are looking for one for me, but, as hens teeth are more common, finding one in Australia is proving problematic  I can get a OEM one from overseas, hell, you can still get new ones in 'Merica, but, shipping is a absolute killer and I cannot justify the cost, or the risk of it being damaged during transport As for the aftermarket hardtops, whilst they do the job of being a hard top, and are fine for a track car, they don't seal well (read: leak like a sieve in the rain), and you need a plastic/poly rear window, plus they are a bolt in option only and not made to be easily removed I liked how the hard top on my NB could be fitted, and removed, by myself, in less than 5 minutes I know it sounds bad, but I'm waiting for someone to write off a car with one so I can swoop in on their pain, it will go to a good home though, so my guilt of this is tempered
    • I’ve got one on mine and it’s fine,
    • No, you don't want to plug the vacuum line, as that will turn that side of the booster into an air spring and probably make it feel worse. I'm not saying that the GTR master itself doesn't need a booster. I haven't paid attention to the GTR one to know what size it is cf the non-GTR ones. But when you think about it - they have to do the same job, which is to move a little slave piston a few mm to do what it is supposed to do, and that final action is the same on all the cars. So, it is very unlikely that the GTR MC is any different than the others, because it has the same pedal stroke and the same output requirement. The booster just makes it feel easier. I'd suggest you probably have an actual hydraulic problem. It's totally common on these old shitboxes.
