sounds laser related. local clarion unit in the '05 pathfinder is the same unit sans 6cd stacker. getting a laser shouldn't me a problem.

I've had 6 CD's stuck in there for a year. get the same error message. They don't want to play and don't want to eject.

Came across this website. They supply Australian map DVD roms. In particular Im interested in N35 Stagea conversion. $400 or get at least a older version for $10!

forgot linky.

hey zx350.. where did you see the $10 rom.. i must be blind :(

Also.. could someone advise could I put a 250gt (2003) lcd dash into a 350gt (2003) as is? My 2003 350gt has is broken - both lcd and CD drive are kaput..

I need to read up what I need in order to put in an aftermark double din... gonna be fun.. if anyone has done it recently, would really appreciate an inventory list.. also will end up probably paying someone to install.

Thanks..

The $10 deal is for older maps circa 2011. Just look at the sale page. Could be worth the small investment to see if it works.

Thanks zx350. I have emailed them, I would just try it, but my LCD is broken!

Would you (or anyone else) please confirm if a 2003 250gt console, would be "plug and pray" into a 2003 350gt? I was advised that it should be.. just want to double check if anyone has done this before..

Thank you :)

I have just installed 2din head unit into my 4door V35 with fully functional steering wheel controls. I used to have Nav/Sat pop up screen before that is why I was lucky to be able hooking up my steering wheel controls directly to the Clarion unit just using standart 3 wires that coming from the steering wheel without any hasle )

If you buy 2nd hand steering wheel you will end up doing a bit of soldering on spiral module inside the steering wheel. Would you consider a remote control SWC that attaches on the steering wheel itself?

Hey Nicko, that looks great! The gauges are also a great idea!!

I am now re-thinking this, as the cost to buy a 2nd hand steering wheel, "just for sound" isn't worth it for me.. however I wasnt clear what you mean by a "remote steering wheel controller".. do you have any further details? (do i run the wires from the stereo to an addon that clips onto the wheel?)

I ended up replacing the as-is console, however I think I will end up selling it and getting a console like yours, I have seen a few for sale, so that I can also install the 2-din.

Some other nice to haves I would like..

1. Cruise control - i have seen 2 after market kits but there soo expensive

2. Want to change my headlights as the plastic is oxidised (i had read you could potentially heat gum them (or place in oven) and polish up, however I am a hack mechanically - software im good with..)

Thats it really.. someone just touched the bumber, 2nd scuff mark, other than that its nice.. although i would like shinier lol.

(I am scouring/googling for references of "convert to english" for popup lcd, some russia references - but cant find how its done - i do recall a video of someone showing it done.. and that was it!)

Thanks for your guidance..

Easy fix the headlights. If they are cloudy or frosty. You can buy a polishing kit to restore the headlights to new from Supercheap for around $70. Or do what I did. Hand polish with normal cheap tooth paste (non whitening) in small circles. Once the tooth paste goes dry. Wash off with sponge and water. Repeat the process twice should see your headlights sparkle like diamonds. If in doubt about the process just watch youtube!

It clips on but no wires bro as they are infrared ))

Anyway instead of buying a 2nd hand wheel I think you could buy a brand new/second hand pre-wired buttons for your steering wheel. That is where you gotta play with a soldering iron to make them work )) Not biggy anyway

Also it might be helpful for you to search out at that subject on a Russian forum of V35’s owners where you can see how they swap their existing pre-restyled wheel buttons to an illuminated ones include all re wiring too. If you need me to translate you any pages though feel free to contact me direct ))

They put head lights in an oven in order to f*ck around with internal components like CCFL angel eyes or proper low beam lens installation. I reckon your lights need a decent polish or you can buy a good pair of 2nd ones on Ebay shipped from Honk Kong they listed them for sale more often now.

thanks mate, yeah its true.. i may go the extra mile and attempt to sand them down, and clear coat them, i have seen a youtube clip that shows that it works quite well.. i actually purchased new headlights, just that if the oem come up diamonds ;-), i actually dont mind them at all.. so they may end up on ebay.. oh well.

by the way, since now i have the oem sat nav installed, i had emailed them if the dvd maps would work.. will chase them up as i dont think i received a reply..  :)

hey nicko, not sure if there was any words around your pics, but appreciate you getting back to me :)

i assume if somehow i would be able to find the sound and cruise controls somewhere, they wouldnt be just plug and play yeah i.e. maybe the sound would work, however i would need a "cruise control unit" that the controls would connect to for sure.. but maybe i can find the sound controls, and its an easy connect? i think i did look for the sound controls and no one seemed to be selling it or there wasmt any obvious after market options that fit into the original slot.. will have  another look..

thanks mate :)

Thanks Nicko, your a champ.

I did look at the russian site, in-fact they had translated it from here!

https://g35driver.com/forums/body-interior-exterior-lighting-diy/246056-diy-light-steering-wheel-controls-03-04-coupe.html

It's too much effort for me.. but for others this may be a quick win.. I will just do the clip on thing for now.. thanks!

I did find from ebay a fascia that the buyer said it should fit my2003 v35 350gt (2 door coupe) - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NISSAN-STAGEA-SKYLINE-V35-DOUBLE-DIN-CONSOLE-PANEL-INFINITI-G35-AUDIO-BLACK-c/172911608884?epid=1984287637&hash=item284255c434:g:7MoAAOSwG0tZsQ4r

So I am thinking I will just buy this and get an android double din.

So now I will have a spare fascia & I am thinking not using the new headlights.. ill see if i can recoupe my costs...

So the plan now.

1. I really like your gear stick (thats what she said) - so I will do a bit of googling :)

2. Purchase the fascia & double din - not sure if you happen to be able to connect up an "obd2" setup.. apparently some double din support this.. so this would niiiice.

3. Also, in terms of "gauges" you have on top - easy to install - any advice?

Thats it for now.. time to put the hand in the pocket and finish this!

Thanks for all the info & pics.. much appreciated :)

-Sam

hey Nicko! (et al).. IF i buy this.. does this plug straight into the stereo? i.e. IF my car doesnt have any controls, can i just buy this and plug and play? I found a few cheap ones.. thanks!

OK.. I have ended up buying an OEM fascia.. and you guessed it.. the cd rom crapped it self within 3 months again.. im spewing!

so i have hunted around and what i have worked out is i have 2 options..

1. Use the nissan stagea dash OR

2. purchase a new plastic fascia.. found it for around $350 dollars.. *google  CT24NS09*

Assuming i dont have the bose system - (i dont think so!) - what harnesses do I need to connect to the stereo?

I think I need:

1. app0120 (aero)

2. do I need an aerial connector? https://aerpro.com/ap348a

3. IF i am lucky, and i can just whack in the "steering wheel controllers", then I guess i would need a "steering wheel adaptor".. i.e . https://aerpro.com/chni3c

Also (directed to Nicko) you mentioned i need "solder" for the steering wheel controls.. what do i need to do basically?

(ive also bought some 19's and new headlights, but the headlights needs installing, and rimms need some curb rash removed as i bought those 2nd hand.. so i gotta few weekends of work for myself..)

while im annoying people - if theres any cheap "bolt on mods" parts around.. i could be interested! id really like to do something like this.. (http://speed.academy/infiniti-g35-bolt-on-power-adders-nissan-vq/) but funds and time are the only limiting factors................

thank you :)

true but that still doesnt fix the other issues. for a decetn price I can replace the LOT with a eclipse or the like.

G35 has the same intgrated dash as well.

as for the nav working - need to know who makes it. if you are in brissy I'll gladly pull the car apart and present you with a few options.

as for replacing the LOT - can do and I have the needed part numbers to do it.

Hey Chris, I've just bought a 350GT for my wife,  and that  pop-up screen is driving her bonkers 😂 If you could offer a solution that would be awesome man, I've spoken to a couple of audio guys and their telling me it's impossible to change but then I read that you had rewired the system for a dude so his Garmin used the screen?

    • Don't do it if your gearbox box has already having syncro issues. The short hifter will put a greater load on them. If you must I remember Nismo did a shorter shifter, with the top part being physically shorter and the part that went into the gearbox was the same as stock. In saying that I've had a C's short shifter (I think) in mine for many years, which was given to me as the previous owner was not sympathetic to the gearbox. Thus forwarned I was careful and had to modify my normal changing style. You have to be super accurate with your clutch and shifts
    • Well, after a week of daily driving and having to crawl out between the wheel and the side intrusion bars. I got myself a quick release setup. I went with an NRG short hub and Quick Release with some cute heart cutouts on the pull tabs. Nice and matchy matchy with the rest of the interior accents I have going on.  The only downside is the total stack height even with the short adapter is longer than the old HKB boss kit. Luckily I had some adjustment left on the column so move the wheel away.
    • stock shifter with new bushes, springs and cup will improve it. Gktech do all the bits. The opinion as the years have gone on is the redline is not great in old gearboxes.
    • Hi all   what short shifter do you use on your skykine r34?   my synchronous does have a problem and i was getting huge delay and grinding sound between 2nd and 3rd, did put shockproof red heavy stuff and it is great now/ no issues   would in your view short shifter screw this up?   people seems to suggest/ use cube short shifter and there is standard and premium. Seen review of premium as much better and less play. Thoughts?
    • Yeah, there's a bit of a density and friability difference between pebbles and any of those other things. Silicone will definitely float in oil and so will be mobile enough to move around. Although, again, if it is upstream of the filter it really shouldn't go any further. I would only ever worry about silicone when it is in places downstream of the filter. Upstream of the pickup is a whole 'nother matter. We've all seen what that does. I have seen the most abominable crap settled out in industrial gearboxes, trunnion lube systems and the like, without any sign that any of it has touched anything in the machine. Just chilling in the bottom, waiting for the inevitable operator error that causes the whole machine to need to be dismantled for repairs.
