Hi,

I'm looking at doing an RB20DET conversion into an n/a VL berlina, and am concerned about the existing diff... will it fit up to the RB20DET?

The N/A VL diff is 3.45:1, non-LSD

I've had someone tell me the VL Turbo diffs (3.45:1 LSD) are heaps better and go harder.. will one of these bolt up to the rb20?

Also the rear brakes on the N/A are drum brakes, which i've been told are shit, should i get a complete diff / axle / disc brake package maybe??

P.S. Prices on suggested diffs would be appreciated if u can get em! Cheers

i rang a few diff and box workshops last week and the cheapest i found was $900 for a rebuild, lsd conversion and 4.11 ratio. that was for a brand new lsd centre ($700 alone) and me delivering the diff to them.

thats for an r31 open wheeler which is the same diff as yours just 3.9 ratio.

so basically its a pretty expensive ordeal unless you have the knowledge to rebuild and setup a diff yourself. but even then your only really saving 200-300 bucks.
