haha omg . classic

you may think it's funny now, but paul can get really obsesive. just wait until he's giving you the booty calls at 4am, and turning up at your work at lunch time... he has often told me he finds your side burns 'alluring'... so if I was you it would be keeping my back to the wall when paul is around.

Good to see you back and whoring Paul. I heard Peno had you

digging holes at his new establishment.

is that what they're calling it now? hmmm. i never knew johny was into it.

well just to steer the topic in a new direction I saw johnny's shop on the weekend. I must say I think it's much better than the old one. a more useable workshop space, nice dyno room, nice looking showroom and it's only 3 mins from the M2 so I think it's actually easier for me to get to than the old shop.

oh, and paul, I think chocolate bandito suits you well. from now on you will be known throughout the lands as Chocolate-o Bandito!

  • 2 weeks later...

How you going Paul??? Congrats on the new addition to the family and hope all is well.

When you making the road trip down to Melb for Round 2 of SAUVIC vs SAUNSW?? :P

Just to be a little off topic (all GAY talk aside), here's the footage I promised you from our trip (SAUVIC) up to EC last year..

http://sau.ferni.net/Jacksvids/EC_10_11_06c.wmv (right click, save as) big file but good quality (35m)

For those who were'nt there this is the VIC vs NSW SAU day at EC last year in November, and in this session Paul is showing me the race line.

Also keep an eye out for the R32GTR with dori dori action at turn 2.... I think it was Steve??

lol, it couldn't be steve, he hasn't had a working skyline for about a year. dunno about that sideways action, looked a bit half hearted to me!

you put in quite a good lap there though jack, your car certainly hauls along quite nicely. 1:47 is none too shabby at all. a couple of corner entries I'd do a little bit differently, but don't listen to me, i've never done a 1:47! lol and your GTR is a lot quicker than mine. :P

Yeah I can't remember he's username, I think he said it was stevegtr or stevegts4 or something like that...

I guess it wasn't a bad time for first time there, although I did have a problem with tyres, you would have noticed the tyres screaching (understeer) on most of the corners, they were rooted... hot day, wrong tyre pressures = fu(ked tyres..

Will chase 1:45's next time I come up....

So what's ur best Richard?? Roy tells me your very quick considering the minimal mods you have..

Paul dipped into a 1:48 on the day in which he beat his previous PB by 2 secs....

John (UAS) did a 1:43!!! Geez that's quick..

I'll have to check. I've only had the GTR there twice, from memory the best last time was a 1:51 or 1:52. not too bad, but I hope I can motor it along a few seconds better than that. It's pretty stock though. and back then was just 250rwkw, street tyres (well RT215s), standard 32 brakes etc. none the less I thought it was not too bad at the time.

    • Hows your intake piping? Are you still running stock? Having in the stock AFM position would mean, if the BOV was shut/venting out, it'd create the almost stalling kind of effect right // "the rich pulse behaviour" due to MAF thinking air is flowing ? But this would be better than having the bov in the stock position + MAF on/just before cross over piping right?
    • Essentially, yes. Although I wouldn't put the AFM on the crossover pipe. I'd want to put it into what amounts to the correct size tube, which is more easily done in the intercooler pipework. I bought a mount tube for card stile AFM that replaces the stock AFM - although being a cheap AliExpress knockoff, it had not flange and I had to make and weld my own. But it is the same length and diameter as the stock RB AFM, goes on my airbox, etc etc. I don't have a sick enough rig to warrant anything different, and the swap will take 5 minutes (when I finally get around to it and the injectors & the dyno tune).
    • So to summarise, the best thing to do is to move recirc to between turbo and IC, and maf on the crossover pipe. Meaning I'd need a recirc flange, drill a hole in the piping on turbo outlet area. And drill hole on crossover to fit/weld maf sensor? Either that or put the MAF on the turbo inlet right?  Is an aftermarket recirc/blowoff valve recommended? Do currently have family in Japan so could probably bring something back with maybe a cheeky lil SuperAutobacs run?
    • Yep, so far most have said that it looks like corrosion on the wall from piston not moving. Which then has probably damaged the oil rings and caused those vertical marks. The longest the engine was still after the rebuild, was the winter of 2018 - 2019, plus the boat trip to Japan. When I shipped the car, it had normal gas in the tank but before that winter pause, it had E85 in tank.  In any case, even if either one of those was the cause, it happened close to 6 years ago and the car has been driven something like 30 000kms after the fact. Again, apart from the plugs and the dip stick, there is nothing in the way the car runs that would indicate what has been going on in the engine. I am going to consult a shop and ask their opinion, what would be the best approach. I do have some access to a garage I could use to diagnose further myself, but time is very restrictive. Might end up buying another engine that could be used while this one is being remedied. Without pulling the head, it will be impossible to find out if it needs another bore, but here's to hoping a hone would suffice.  Goddamnit, I would really have preferred this not happening.
    • Boot is going to be replaced eventually. I just wire brushed what I could and rust converted. Then painted in rust kill primer. the spoiler also got repainted and plugs replaced on the ends. The under side of the bonnet is going to be black also, currently white. But red on the top side, same colour code as the silo to begin.
