My thoughts are with you Mikey... hope you get better real soon; from personal experience you'll find it pretty hard to be as "carefree" as before - you'll always think that someone is out to get you / your car.

What both Duncan and Pete have said is true... if they want your car and will obviously stop at no lengths to get it, then GIVE IT to them. I don't know about you lot but I value my life more than I value my car.

Suggestions of keeping weapons etc on you is stupid... it promotes violence and will probably get you in trouble even if it was "self defence". Correct me if I'm wrong but if you had the weapon in your car expecting trouble, it's not really self defence is it, especially if you club the guy to near death proportions.

can't go to cops as i threw first punch, i wanted try and phsyc them out by taking them on instead of running,

Go to the cops buddy, you got nothing to worry about. It was very clearly self defense. It is your legal right to defend your self, your property or a third party, if you/it/they are under imamate or immediate attack, with equal or lesser force. Since there was two or them and one of you that is lesser force. And by them sayin "give me your keys" makes it very clear of their intentions. Go to the cops, I know that the VIC pol that I have dealt with in similar situations take it very seriously. Well, I wish you all the best with your recovery, and I sincerely hope that these guys get ass raped by someone.

Cheers

Helio

so have you gone to the cops yet Mikey?

Joe - I heard a similar story - a mate went to that same party and said someone got hit - also about money..

A club lock or maglite is as good a weapon as any. Carry one of them with you at all times. Even a skateboard is a good weapon. Pricks! Hope you get better soon champ!

Hope you get well soon Mikey :D

i was once a northern beach person living at allambie heights but move from there years ago.

anyways regarding weapons around 4-5 years ago i tested drive with my mate a JDM spec 1997 dc2r integra type-r and he was viet when we jumped in the back seats there was this next and shiney watermelon knife(i can't spell the name of this). Hahah we didn't end up buying the car but we had 3 guys so it was cool.

bad luck mate

not goods man

hope u feel better.

i doubt the cops would do much anyways

they will most likely say, nah we couldnt find em after 3 months....

grab the tyre iron and leave it beside the drivers door, on the carpet next to the petrol and boot button.

so if someone comes near ya, smack smack hehehehe

y can't people just leave us alone with our lines :spank::ninja: :ninja:

thats the new hiding place for it lol.

chubbs- a police report has been made including names, so now ive been told to wait until they go and speak with these people, they said that even though i threw the first, the severity of my injuries is enough to warrant self defence.

they said that once they have spoken to the people and if i wanmt to proceed then i was told i have more than enouigh evidence to press agrevated assaul = 1-5yrs max jail

Hey Mikey,

f**k that's hectic. Killara too.

Tell ya what man maybe they been waitin for ya or something? Do you have any more background about it? If you know their names you know them from somewhere right?

I used to live in St Ives before I moved outta my folks place - Killara/Lindfield/St Ives/Turramurra are good whitey/Jewish neighbourhoods. I wouldn't expect this sorta stuff happening just like that.

Hope you get better soon.

nah i dont park there very often at all, it was about 11pm so i dont think there was. i even drove myself to the hospital with blood dripping everywhere, so stoked it didnt get on my seat hahaha

Sick. haha that's cool.

Remember everyone- carrying a weapon with intent to use it in self defence or not isn't a good thing if it comes to court. It's different than if there is something in your car you use for something else legitimately that just happens to be used reasonably to defend yourself.

    • If the tyres were fitted when new, I wouldn't expect much over 5 years of use. Especially if the car lives outside full time.  If the tyres had been stored under ideal conditions and are being purchased new, I'd fit a set of already 5 year old tyres if I only expected to get 1 to 2 years of use out of them.  I've purchased many a set of new (but quite old) tyres from St George Tyres when I just needed some decent rear tyres to drift on.  Here is a pretty crazy example, can't say I've ever bought 11 year old tyres from them before though lol.  https://www.stgeorgetyres.com.au/momo-tyres-245-45-17-outrun-m3-official-product-by-momo-italy.html
    • Also, a tip for young players  Check the dates on new tyres before they fit them, I always ask this question at the tyre shop, as they have tried to put "new" tyres on one of my cars a few years ago, but the build date was about 3 years old
    • Yeah - 4 or 5 years is the limit for decent tyres. Pedestrian grade tyres with 400 TW ratings start out hard and don't start to suffer until they are somewhat older again. But the stickier decent stuff? Nup. My current ADO9s are < 2 yrs old, 17000km in, only have about the minimum 2mm of tread depth left, and they are.....not what they used to be. They are clearly much harder now than when new. Whether that is heat cycles (unlikely, for a road tyre), different compound between top and bottom of tread, or actually aging out (in less than 2 years!!!) is not really able to be discerned. But I'd credit actual aging as being at least part of the cause. I've got an old pair of ~50% worn AD08Rs in the shed that I really need to get rid of. They started feeling waaaay too hard to put back on the car after a couple of years sitting there.
    • Personally I wouldn't put tyres over 4 or 5 years old on any of my own cars. Once they go hard the grip characteristics completely change. As per most things it only matters in an accident and that's when you most want them to do their job!
    • I'm replacing the front tyres on the E39 tomorrow because one of them has a few gouges out of it. There is so much tread still on them but they're also 9 years old and the rubber is super hard.  This falls within the guidelines of 10 years old that I've read which surprises me given their condition.  I'm curious about whether you guys care about tyre age or just judge the tyre based on condition? How old would you consider too old?
