does ur car have pod and fmic?

if it has 1 of these then its ok. a cold air box isnt creally considered a mod unless ur the cops. i got 1 and i went epa with it, they said it was cool. and coz it was a box (enclosed) and my pod was in there with fmic, that was ok too.

cops dont know shit, they just after bronie points!!

hope that helps

Intercoolers that are larger than standard or have a different mounting location or are added where none were originally fitted, are permitted only if no other changes to the intake system have been made.

In other words, you may have a pod filter or added/modified intercooler, but not both

Guidelines are clear as day.

If someone got passed, they were lucky.

Dont expect it to happen everyday

I was at the EPA the other week and the guy in front of me came in with a cooler and a pod that was it and he was sent away to come back with only one of the modifications.

Was speaking to the guy from epa who gave me a leaflet on what you can and cant do... EPA are genuine and follow the rules and guild lines fairly as they are set out this being one of them...

hmm this guy is going for a roadworthy, not trying to pass an EPA test!

ive been speaking to alot of people who are lisenced road worthy supplier mechanics, and they said thier guidelines for a roadworthy certificate are set by vicroads, not EPA, so i asked them the hypothetical of passing the car with a front mount and a pod filter... and they said, yes because those are not on the requirement list of the road worthy, as long as they are done properly and are safe (eg pod is bolted down) and front mount isnt leaking and is mounted properly, then they are fine!

EPA and vicroads should really get together, sit down and combine thier roadworthy/epa requirements because at the moment they really are two different entities that have thier own rules!

Ur point?

Technically what i posted is 100% correct.

RWC, EPA test... whatever.

If your car does NOT pass EPA it is not roadworthy. Most engineers over look this when compling a car, but it does matter.

well my point is, the guy is worried if he will pass his roadworthy or not with his cai box, and from his sig pic it looks like he might have a front mounted intercooler too, and i am letting him know that it most likely will pass his rwc with the two induction mods.... he will fail an epa test, or if i police officer pulls him up on it he will have to change it, however i answered his question about passing his roadworthy... doesnt mean you have to have a stab at me for answering his question...

ffs this gets covered like every day.

Its not legal, but will prob pass the RWC as the form is generic and basic form for all cars.

But, when they defect you and u need to go to the EPA...you will need ot remove it.

Period.

    • These are small points I should actually add to my original post. GKtech makes an extended slave line for this conversion. It's what I use, and it works well. You'll also need a CD009 slave cylinder.  S/R Chassis Z33/Z34 Conversion braided clutch line As for transmission sensors, you'll need to both extend the wiring and replace the connectors. I can't recall which is which, but one is your neutral switch and the other the reverse switch. As they are just switches, just test for continuity with your transmission in neutral or reverse to figure out which is which. • I’ll try and see it could be the release bearing. As for the 4th gear grind maybe clutch doesn’t disengage properly cause it is slightly like very slightly hard to go into first could be due to the slab cylinder pin being short uni clutch is a twin plate.   Ive attached some assembly photos hopefully you can open the link and see maybe detect what’s wrong https://share.icloud.com/photos/0dc2YvW__Hl6jl-l2_0jejjpg https://share.icloud.com/photos/09e0jkWOK-vP48c1cfY6u3ViA https://share.icloud.com/photos/0b4rDmh5R7pK7fb1VtND73a3g https://share.icloud.com/photos/05eeUi_6dC4DVi80jOUYDgb0g https://share.icloud.com/photos/06335TgY1XxyIJal_wkdQLhzw
    • Yeah for sure that is peddle adjustment
    • What are your thoughts on this after having it for a while, worth getting?
    • Downshifts are harder on transmissions than upshifts, the input shaft naturally slows down once disconnected from the engine so the synchros aren't doing all the work. There's no "natural" tendency for an input shaft to increase RPM. Something is not right there, I don't have a great answer on what. You can try a dedicated GL4 75W90, I plan to switch to Motorcraft XT-M5-QS which is supposedly a very good 75W90 for NB Miatas which have a weirdly sensitive transmission from the factory. I would chase down why your clutch is making a hissing noise, that's not normal. It might be no big deal but in the absence of anything else to investigate I would look at that.
