Annual Sau Dyno Day Pictures/video And Discussion

sweet as....not bad hey for a 26. Well i was stuck at home re-fabricating new i/c piping to hopefully fix our boost leak instead of enjoying the action. Man if our car was sorted out, could have taken out 1st..somewhere between 370-400rwkw.

Maybe if col had proper TRACTION, he would have given you a run for your money :D Should up the pic of the rubber up the side of the car col, They still never got it right at the end for your result but fairly impressive otherwise

our dyno is underrated by about 10% on average and doesnt run in shootout mode similar to matty's setup.

I was looking forward to what power we would have made in shoot out mode, was hoping for a nicely inflated figure.

Col what are the specs on your engine? so i can compare.

Unless the figures you are quoting were from this same dyno you may have been disapointed too.

LOL...he could have pulled 200rwkw or 400 rwkw....it was pot luck :D

this dyno doesnt run in shootout either..if it did we wouldnt all be emo about our power right now

I have calculated that this dyno is 12-14% lower than all the shoot out dynos I have been on

ahh okedoke...well blows my hopes away of a shoot out mode dyno run....but at least the power would have been close.

Ok, pardon my ignorance here I aint emo about the bionic wheelchair output but, whats alll this talk about uncalibrated dynos etc. If this dyno was bought to spec about a week or so back why all the f**king around to recalibrate it. These are not gripes, I simply want to know which way is up regarding the wide cross range of readings coming from the dyno.

As to the service and commitment from the staff, First class. those people worked their cans off all day and never moaned once. I had no probs getting answers to any question I asked.

Oh oh this is one for those techys out there the guy who ran 249rwkws, in a bone stock r33 gtst, only mods diff were exhaust trust cooler and hks 2540 turbo :D And yes stock bottom, stock head, Stock injectors, and oh i forgot stock r33 airflow meter, only dif running a regulator with it.

One big big noticable difference were the big fat drag radials it had on there and oh running 1.2 i think bar pressure. and afrs were everywhere dipping in to low 11s to 10s in some spot

Come on come on someone explain this please

We saying here well if i and col were to run big fat drag radials our readings would be higher due too better traction, its really got me thinking on this one, as i was running 38psi on stocko 205/16s with well 2mm off tread indicators.

This one is for Col, could you pm me your details of just your turbo, exduce induce trim and inlet outlet and a/r (Hot Side) just would like to compare to mine please Thanks In Advance

Cheers A

That guy surprised me too considering my turbo is rated the same..and I have cams and have been rebuilt and I was running 1.1 bar with good AFRs

Did yu realy run 38psi or is that a typo??

Ps after seeing Jerome Kennedys drift car up close and in action and always getting crappy results I think I want a HKS 2835R!

Sorry i refered the above figure to tyre pressure but yeah its really got me wondering i think something is missing here for us andy, and yes i was running 1.2bar boost pressure

Bring out discopotato on the above matter :D ok thats enough for me hoggin the thread but im sure some curious people may be thinking alike on me here

Oh sorry...I understand now!

I read a while back that sticky tyres give a lower reading...I will have to dig it out and see their theories as to why

Was a very good day - thanks to all who came along, and made our sunburn worthwhile... Also a HUGE thanks to Richard and the team at Allstar for being our gracious hosts and working their butts off to get our cars on their dyno :D

Grats to Col too for reaching his 300kw goal on a fresh combo, gotta be happy with that

Yeh ive been told the samething by other various shops also, that bigger and stickier tyres give a lower hp reading for whatever reason.

Not only that but they also make a mess. We coated the backwall on the dyno one time with a set of full slicks...made a mess of the car also. After that they told us to use crappy small road tyres. However im curious to know why it is that way with bigger tyres if it actually is true.

The day was an awesome day. It was interesting to see my power output, but boo the the limiters. Wont be stock for long. Great to see such a great turnout.

Thanks to all the SAU crew that put the effort in that gave us a good day out. Thanks to Allstar for the use o9f their dyno and their efforts in getting our cars on the dyno.

Congrats Col on breaking the 300kw mark.

looking at the rating of the above mentioned turbo the specs are similar to the 25r with flow upto 44lb/min just trying to acertain why such the big diff between his and hows with similar mods ?? and yeah thanks for the sau execs for organising this event and also to the allstar team great effort

You could have but you would have run into wheelspin - I had the 26 with 339rwkw, my graph was flat from 6k onwards which is very odd, the only thing I can put it down to was wheelspin (peak power is a bit over 7,500rpm on all my other graphs). It usually puts out about 370-380rwkw on 20-22psi, had 24 through it on the day.......ah well, at least I found out it was running rich so off for a retune  Thanks to Col for organizing the day.

nice pics adam.. great time met a few new faces.. shame i only got 139rwkw :P..

Huge Thanks to COL !!! thanks for moving me up when i needed to head off..

Anna and the rest of the crew will explain the GTR Boot story

yeah explain the gtr boot please lol

sounds like it was a good day....out of curiosity who made the most power? and what was that figure?

was looking forward to seeing ur car michael, maybe u and i may make the may dyno day
