What Is This Unidentified Wire?

Was cleaning my car today and looking around my engine bay when I spotted this piece of wire, attached to a plug of some sort on the passenger side strut tower, but the other end was unattached...see pics.

Looks like its supposed to be grounded to some part, but couldn't find where it dropped out from..I started the car and tried touching the chassis with it, made no difference, car is not doing anything its not supposed to...

Anyone out there know what this is? Its got me stumped

its an earth lead, follow to see where it goes. it if leads to the chassis then bolt it the engine (or anything near it) if it leads to the engine or something else on the engine then bolt it onto the chassis.

I know the exact lead you're talking about, took notice of it when I was trying to find grounding points on my car.

there is a clip that it plugs into it. it's directly opposite the turbo, on the shock tower

yeah thts the one..its already plugged in to the clip, just the other end I'm trying to figure out where to bolt it to....what does it do? Is it doing any harm as it is disconnected?

It is suppose to bolt up to the exhaust manifold bolts. It is designe to ground the engien ect.

srew hole should be just the other side of the heat shield on the steel exhaust housing looking thing

ah thanks for that Sam! Now i'll just have to wait for the engine to cool down before i start sticking my hands in there. On further inspection, I also found the screw thts fallen off sitting at the bottom of the tray. I wonder what difference it makes with/without it connected..I've been driving for quite a while now with it supposedly disconnected..no dramas..I might gain 2 kws if I get it back on
